Cramps/Pains Early Pregnancy

Hey Ladies!
I have recently fount out that I am pregnant and going from my last period I am about 6 weeks today! For the last week I have been experiencing really bad cramps and pains in my stomach to the point where it is taking my breathe away a little bit (like really bad trapped wind!!) I am a size 10 and my stomach has bloated that much that nothing is fitting me! I am really concerned about the pains as it seems to be a constant dull pain and then I experience sharp/intense pains especially when I have something to eat. Everything that I have read online and people who I have spoke to say it is all normal but with it being my first baby I don't know what is considered as 'normal'. Really looking for some advise to ease my mind and to see if anyone else is experiencing the same and if so what might help :) It makes it even more difficult because I am so early on no-one knows yet but I'm sure everyone will end up knowing soon it these pains and bloating don't calm down!
Thanks x x

Congratulations!

I was exactly the same in about weeks 5 - 7, I was so bloated I had to go buy maternity jeans and the cramps were really intense (much worse than period pain). It had calmed down by week 8. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and today is the first day I've needed the maternity jeans again. I was fairly freaked out but unless you're bleeding there's nothing to worry about (and even then it's not necessarily that something is wrong but it's worth seeking some medical help) I had to see the nurse at my gp when I found out I was pregnant and mentioned it to her she said it was totally normal and just the embryo getting firmly burrowed in.

stephRK · 23/01/2018 17:32

Ah thank you!! Congratulations to you too, half way there eeeek! :)
Gosh its so uncomfortable and worrying not knowing whats going on in there! I really do hope it starts to ease off soon, I'm finding myself not knowing if I'm hungry or not as I am so bloated so just eating for the sake of it, which is making it worse!
Did you take anything for it or do anything to ease off the pain?

Congratulations!

By my dates I’m 6 weeks on Friday Smile I have been experiencing cramping and back pain for a few weeks now too. Just wishing the time away until my scan!

windchimesabotage · 23/01/2018 17:52

i think this is pretty normal. Didnt get it with my first but have had it this time around also with light bleeding at about 6 weeks. Im now 18 weeks and baby is fine. Midwife said the light bleeding and cramping was from implantation. Also being pregnant can slow down your digestive system as the hormone that causes your bowl to contract and push down waste, is reduced to prevent miscarriage. Side effect is often constipation, wind and bloating etc
Congratulations Flowers

I took paracetamol when it was really bad, I've read that it's ok to take as long as you dont exceed the dose and you aren't taking it for too long a period. I would take 2 in the evening on the days when it was likely to keep me awake at night. Avoid ibuprofen

greeny506 · 23/01/2018 20:08

Ahh I've spent the whole evening being stressed about my ongoing dull ache... it's been on and off since before I got my BFP and I'm petrified it's the sign of an ectopic. I'm only 4 weeks 3 days. But so worried about this ache 😥

greeny506 · 23/01/2018 20:09

Sent without finishing.....! But this thread has made me feel slightly at ease! Thank you! I'm also so nervous every time I go to the toilet that I'm going to find blood too 😥

Marriageoftrueminds · 23/01/2018 20:12

I’m the same, getting nasty pains and cramps especially at night (I’m also getting pain in the site of my previous ectopic pregnancy but that’s a different story). I’m 4 weeks 4 days. Been worrying massively about the cramps, feels like bad period pains (worse than I ever get usually!)

Marriageoftrueminds · 23/01/2018 20:14

PS I’ve been taking paracetamol as otherwise I wouldn’t sleep and would go mad with worry! I didn’t intend to take painkillers in pregnancy and my mum said I shouldn’t but having checked NHS advice and asked my friend who’s a doctor I’ve been reassured it’s fine to take them in moderation and never exceeding recommended dose of course! Hope you feel better soon and congrats on your pregnancy!

stephRK · 23/01/2018 20:27

Feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one and that it all sounds normal! Can't believe how bloated I am even my boyfriend commented on it (which I almost caved his head in) it's literally massive and like I said I can't tell if I'm hungry so I'm just eating loads! Hopefully the pain will stop soon, I've had some parecetomol as recommended and that's eased it off slightly! Can't wait for my first scan to ease my mind because I am the exact same, terrified whenever I go to the toilet :(! X

Mine isn't painful but feels heavy and can just feel it - it's probably also being bloated too but someone today said I look like I've lost weight... I was like "thank you!!. 🙄" starting to feel a bit sicky too but dont know if that's because I spent ages in traffic today and was running around after work. I think also now that I'm pregnant, I'm reading into everything!!!

stephRK · 23/01/2018 21:41

Oh gosh I'm the exact same! I've spent the last 4 days constantly googling about what's normal and what's not normal😂 It's funny someone has told you you look like you've lost weight because 2 people at work said how slim I looked yesterday and I just thought 'you Defo think I've put weight on' haha!! I've had abit of nausea but think it's because I'm just so bloated constantly x

Hi ladies, how is everyone? I just had another bout of the dreaded pain, this one was even worse, I felt like I was dying! I just don’t see how the baby can be ok in there, I’m expecting the worst now Sad

Leigh11 · 25/01/2018 06:39

Hey stephrk,

I'm in exactly the same boat! We did a clear blue test and it was positive 2-3 weeks, I had really bad cramps for a good week running up to the test but since I have found out they seem to have now calmed! I'm just trying to research and find everything out now! I know they say you're already 2 weeks before you conceive so now I'm googling wondering which parts I should actually be looking at! Can't wait to just actually know and understand it all!

I hope everything goes well for everyone! Stay positive x

stephRK · 25/01/2018 18:05

Hope you're all ok ladies and hanging on in there!❤
Thank fully the cramps seem to have calmed down now, I still feel/look ridiculously bloated though and keep having the occasional pains. I am the exact same, constantly thinking how can I be feeling this pain and the baby still be ok! I think it's normal to dreading the worst because you just feel so much love straight away! Think I may have jinxed myself about feeling sick because yesterday I was awful, wasn't physically sick but the nausea my god!!
Have had to speak to the doctors today because the woman I spoke to last week didn't put me in the midwife book (annoying) and they said if you're feeling really bad with nausea/having bad sickness that they are able to give you something that's safe for the baby so anyone who's suffering maybe contact the doctors.
Also is anyone else feeling absolutely massive?! I literally feel like a whale and the baby is only the size of a grain of rice😂 I keep thinking I bet everything is thinking how big I look and they don't even know I'm pregnant yet lol
Xx

@StephRK I'm only 4 weeks (found out a couple of days ago) and I am SO bloated! It's ridiculous as I know it's just a bunch of cells but my stomach looks huge today- I'm guessing trapped wind or something. Had to undo the zip on my skirt to drive as it was so uncomfortable! Hoping th4 bloating goes away in a couple of days...

Marriageoftrueminds · 28/01/2018 16:56

Hi everyone, can I ask how everyone is doing with the cramps? Mine are weird, I get them once a day, always in the evening or at night? It’s defiantly my uterus and it’s agony, I’m still really worried!

surreygirl1987 · 28/01/2018 19:36

My cramps come and go. Was fine for most of today but then had a sharp pain about an hour ago when I stood up so am a bit worried 😑 am exactly 4 weeks and AF would be due today.

stephRK · 27/02/2018 20:12

Only just seen these comments sorry ladies!! My cramps seem to have completley gone now thankfully! I spoke to my midwife and she said it's all normal as everything is moving to make space for the baby. I went for an early scan at 8 weeks 4 days because I was so worried but everything seems fine thank god!! How is everyone else doing?? X

I had terrible pain at around 5-6 weeks - turned out to be a cystic corpus luteum
