22 weeks and midwife struggling to find heartbeat

Hi, all
I’ve just been for a checkup with midwife as I’m 23 weeks Friday and haven’t had any movement. Baby was wriggling about on 20week scan and I couldn’t feel it so I wasn’t too concerned and neither was the hospital that I hadn’t felt anything.
I decided to speak to midwife and have a checkup of heartbeat and she couldn’t find it or if she could it was quite slow, similar to mine. I’m now going for an emergency scan. I have an anterior, low placenta. Anyone had anything similar and can share some positivity. I’m terrified

I don't have any useful advice but here to handhold love. Chances are everything will be fine and it's just the placenta cushioning the movements and baby being in an awkward position. Please don't worry. Easier said than done I know

I’m expecting twins I was in hospital at 23 weeks for something else. Anyway my right twin is a bugger she always hides from the Doppler. They both have anterior placentas which doesn’t help but she always wiggles away. She manages that with only half the womb space and still takes them sometimes 20 minutes to get her heart beat so imagine her having the full womb to herself. Fingers crossed all is good try not to worry. I still feel sporadic movement now and I’m 28 weeks x

hopefully all is fine but best to get checked, with my first I had anterior placenta and I didn't feel anything until 24/25 weeks x

I had an anterior placenta and rarely felt movement - but midwife did find heartbeat OK. I hope everything is OK. You are doing the right thing. It's really hard being told how important it is to monitor movement if actually you never reliably feel any - I sometimes felt lots but often dd would 'hide' (happened over the whole pregnancy). My ds had non anterior placenta and it was completely different.

I had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel movement much, I’d sit at Work clock watching trying to kick count.

Sorry posted too soon, heart beat was sometimes hard to find due to position of placenta but currently sat feeding my baby so he turned out fine

They couldn’t find the heartbeat still on their machine but scan has revealed he is all ok, movement and heartbeat. I’m not sure mines ok now after that, you must all know how happy I feel

Oh you poor thing, I remember having similar when pregnant with DS and thinking 'you little sod, you scared the crap out of me' when he appeared wiggling happily on the screen welcome to a lifetime of fretting about the little darlings! Take it easy the rest of the day and get some decent chocolate in, you've had an emotionally draining day so far

Gosh yes, I had very similar at 24 weeks as I barely felt movements and Midwife couldn’t find a heartbeat. A quick emergency scan showed a baby spinning about happily. I see on threads here people worrying about feeling movements really early on but they can float about happily for so long without making much movement at all! I also had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel loads of movement until he got quite big. Glad you got sorted out quickly!

Fantastic. Hope you start feeling more movements soon. I had the opposite problem, could feel it very early and by about 20 weeks, even my colleagues could see my belly moving in meetings! He was a ridiculously active baby, and is still the same as a somewhat larger child!!

It was reassuring to see him again, I felt like the midwife was certain it was bad news but I guess they have to prepare you for it.
There was a lady in the waiting room who had reduced movement so I’m hoping hers was all good too.
My pregnancy in terms of sickness etc hasn’t been bad but I’ve had a few scares so I’m hoping he’s putting me through my paces now for less worry when he’s here...I very much doubt it.
I’m glad everyone who’s had similar experiences all turned out well.
I’m heading home after work for a nice bath and a chill out. It was so nice to be able to come on here and chat to people that now what you’re going through x
