Excess Amniotic Fluid

I had a growth scan yesterday that picked up excess amniotic fluid (95th centile, so quite a lot) surrounding the baby. I’m 37 weeks, already booked in for a caesarean at some point at 39 weeks. Have previously had the GTT at 26 weeks or so (which was fine) and they’ve taken some blood to test for infections. The midwife showed my results to the consultant, but apparently they didn’t want any more monitoring.

I’ve had time to go away and read up on it now, and am a bit worried. I know most pregnancies will be absolutely fine, but it’s hard not to be a bit uneasy now! I’m going to ring my midwife with a few more questions today, is there any further monitoring or checks that I should be pushing for? The sonographer didn’t mention if she checked the baby was swallowing (I read there could be a defect like that), is that something that would be done as standard? Should I be pushing for another GTT? And will the baby need to be monitored after birth? Reading that it could be a sign of a developmental or genetic issue has really worried me, though we had the nuchal fold done and it came back okay.

Also I’m a bit annoyed that at no point yesterday did anyone mention the risk of cord prolapse and what to do in that scenario, I only know from reading up on it myself. That seems like quite a basic thing to miss out, I’m surprised as my hospital are normally pretty good!
