Cervical sweep?

The midwife said she'll do a sweep at 39+6. AIBU to think this is unnecessary as I'm not officially overdue? On one hand I'm exhausted and uncomfortable and want this baby out, but on the other hand I keep thinking if he was ready to be born I'd go into labour. I don't want to force it but equally don't want to end up having a medical induction. Advice please?

You can refuse, you don't have to have any interventions. Just tell her you would rather wait to see what happens naturally. You could still ask for a sweep at any time if you change your mind.

I don't want any interventions so don't want a sweep. But I don't want to refuse the sweep and end up with a medical induction that could have been avoided?

I had 2 or 3 with ds1. Did fuck all. Won't be having them this time.

I refused until I was 41wk. And even then they didn't do anything and were just painful

You can refuse an induction too! Maybe see how you feel in a couple of weeks.
