When did you start wearing maternity clothing?

When I got to big for my regular clothing.

Everyone will give you a different answer, but about 20 weeks with my first and about 14 weeks with my second.

Thanks I can't really remember with my first but I'm just over 12 weeks now with number 2 & most of my clothes are getting too snug. I wasn't sure if it was too early to start wearing maternity bits!

Around 6 months with my first, and maybe just before 20 weeks this time round? Everyone's different though. Some people seem to crack them out the minute they get a positive test and others are in normal jeans till the end!

GrumpySausage · 21/01/2018 20:01

I'm 18 weeks and have been wearing maternity trousers since 14 weeks. I can get away with normal baggy tops but a lot are too short now. This is my 2nd though.

InDubiousBattle · 21/01/2018 20:01

Ds (1st baby)- really late on about 22-24 weeks if memory serves
Dd (2nd baby) - 2.5 minutes!

I bloated big time in first 10 weeks so was using the hairband trick over jeans since early on (and butchering the elastic bands on leggings!). Bought some over the bump maternity jeans at around 15/16 weeks which were a revelation. Am now 18 weeks and have most definitely popped in last 2 weeks so wearing maternity tops too as any others were becoming too short over my bump Smile

I think it's down to how the individual carries though- if it's comfy it's not too early!

Rockandrollwithit · 21/01/2018 20:01

With my first I was around 20 weeks but much earlier with my second. Stomach muscles were not as good!

MeadowHay · 21/01/2018 20:17

I'm 19 weeks, I'm not in mat clothes yet but have been unable to fit into my jeans, tight skirts etc since about 14 weeks I think. I'm just wearing trousers/leggings/skirts with elasticated waists atm - bought a pair of stretchy trousers and some leggings in a size up from my regular size and wearing them, plus anything I owned before with stretchy waists that I'm just stretching. Still fit in all my usual tops although there's a few tight shirts I have that are straining over my boobs as I've gone up a cup size.

RosaBaby2 · 21/01/2018 20:58

22 weeks, i had started having to undo my regular jeans to sit down. My tops are all still fine as most are long anyway.

ClareB83 · 21/01/2018 21:18

Since 20 weeks but it is twins.

I did go up a size in jeans at about 12 weeks as well.

Wowzel · 21/01/2018 21:19

About 14 weeks - my trousers were far too tight.

Bellamuerte · 21/01/2018 21:23

My tummy bloated straight away so I switched my normal jeans for leggings around 6 weeks. But I wasn't big enough to wear maternity jeans until about 12 weeks.

PrimeraVez · 22/01/2018 04:49

Around 15/16 weeks I think (it's my second baby)

I'm now 19 weeks and can just about get away with some pre-preg clothes as long as they are stretchy/elasticated/floaty. Other than that, I'm living in over-the-bump maternity jeans.

MooChops89 · 22/01/2018 04:53

I've started wearing a size up in some stuff, still wearing normal clothes in other stuff. Am 25 weeks now. I have bought some maternity dresses and have tried venturing into the maternity section in new look etc but I actually find maternity clothes come up huge and I have no idea what size to buy as I want them to fit me later but I can't wear them now!

TriJo · 22/01/2018 11:21

Maternity jeans at 10 weeks this time, at around 14 weeks last time.

EastDulwichWife · 22/01/2018 16:00

I was in maternity jeans at 14 weeks (first pregnancy). Wish I'd done it sooner - I had been so uncomfortable. Now in mat clothes or sizing up (e.g. primark jersey dresses two sizes too big) at 22 weeks.

ConjugalHoliday · 22/01/2018 16:01

13 weeks Blush

peachgreen · 22/01/2018 16:46

Not until about 30 weeks but I did stop wearing my regular jeans at around 22 weeks - all my other clothes were stretchy enough to accommodate (and most still are at 39+5). It really depends on the kind of things you wear - all my dresses still fit and tops are fine with a longer vest underneath so all I really needed was a pair of maternity jeans and a couple of pairs of maternity leggings (mostly for comfort).

harrietm87 · 22/01/2018 16:52

Started wearing my baggier clothes around 12 weeks, bought first maternity jeans at 22 weeks, but can still fit into my work dresses now at 29 weeks. I've just bought a couple of maternity dresses but that's more so I can show off my bump rather than just looking fat in my normal clothes!

CherryVicky29 · 22/01/2018 18:22

Just started at 15 weeks with my first 🙂

PointeShoesAndTutus · 22/01/2018 18:29

Jeans at around 14 weeks, then packed away my more fitted dresses and skirts and trousers at around 18 weeks. Need to pick up some more bits really as I'm in a couple of stretchy skirts, a couple of work dresses and the one pair of maternity jeans I've bought.
