Fibroid next to placenta

Hello everyone, me and my husband have just been for a private gender scan and the lady told me I have a fibroid and not to worry! I am worried I've never heard of this before! It's not been picked up on any other scans has anyone else had this?

I had three. Picked u p during fertility treatment and present during pregnancy. One was removed during my section as it was in the surgeon's way. As far as I know the others are still there.

So is it normally nothing to worry about? I've had bleeding in this pregnancy I wonder if it has anything to do with the fibroid. The baby is totally fine and everything is great but just never heard of a fibroid.

I have 4 fibroids, 2 of them measuring 12cm. I get regular scans to check they are not in baby's way but I never had a problem! They got a bit uncomfortable near the end (I'm 32 weeks now) but never been a real problem. 30% of women will have fibroids by the age of 35 - they are really nothing to worry about, and they will be watched in case they get too big

I have fibroids and one is right next to the placenta. I'm consultant led and get more frequent scans to track it. They just need to make sure it doesn't grow. They usually deteriorate in pregnancy. They're not usually an issue but you will get extra scans etc. I'm 24 weeks now and it's all fine.

Ah brilliant thank you everyone, I've had so many scans before this gender scan and can't understand how they didn't pick up on it earlier, can they form during pregnancy? I have my 20 week scan in Feb so hopefully they can see it. Thanks again everyone.
