Hi there, new to this page. I’ve been told I could be miscarrying as 2 wks ago I had a scan and was only a sac and yolk sac, back today hoping to see fetal pole and nothing except the yolk sac has got bigger as has the sac so I’m a bit like why would it grow if I was miscarrying Confused any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry you're going through a difficult time. How far along are you meant to be?

clarenga · 19/01/2018 19:06

Apparently 7 weeks but my partner thinks it may just be too early

I'm in really similar boat as you but we only had the first scan 2 days ago.. was booked in for an early scan due to light bleeding after a previous miscarriage around 8 weeks it's really scary. Thinking I'm 7 weeks from last period was scanned thinking there would be a baby and a heart beat and only a yolk sac and she said I was only 5 weeks along! I'm so scared this is a missed miscarriage but the lady seemed to think everything was fine and to go back and check in two weeks.

Umm it's really difficult to know. Realistically if your dates are correct then you should be able to see a foetal pole with a heartbeat, but there is always the chance they aren't. When I had a MMC the yolk and sac kept growing a couple of weeks beyond the baby so unfortunately it's really hard to tell. Are you going back for another scan?

Lifeofpies · 20/01/2018 12:56

My first MMC was just like this I’m afraid. It’s very stressful to have to wait and rescan, but probably the only option. Did they ask you to go back in a week? It does work out for some people, but if you’re 100% on dates it may not be good news. Take care Flowers

I’m so sorry Clarenga. Are you under the care of a recurrent miscarriage clinic? Don’t loose hope yet, but I’m afraid no hint at anything being wrong doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I’ve had two MMCs with zero sign of a problem. I hope this week goes quickly and next time you see a hb. X

I'm heartbroken started bleeding today so nature is taking its course SadHaloyes I'm under a recurring miscarriage consultant now so will be having tests done ASAP. Thanks x
