Completely gone off meat!

Hai there. Im 22 weeks and I was watching the food programmes on Netflix, which made me read various books about the food/farming industry and I can no longer bring myself to even LOOK at meat (or dairy to a lesser extent). I’m absolutely disgusted by it! Im not going to lie that in the past I’ve made light of my vegan friends and happily munched steak whilst they ate... I have no idea what they ate?! What do people eat when they don’t eat meat?!

I’m really struggling to find things to eat that don’t have dairy or meat in, and also feel satisfied. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Regards,
Very hungry and frustrated pregnant lady, that wishes steak was still a thing I could eat without gagging. Also chicken.

I sympathise! I experienced the same thing from about 8 weeks. It was so bad that I couldn't even go to the supermarket as just looking at meat (both fresh and frozen) made me physically sick. It was so strange. Dh has to do the food shop for ages!
I'm trying to remember what I had instead... For a while I just picked at stuff and felt a bit like you are now, then I eventually managed salmon with ratatouille and really enjoyed it- first meal I'd enjoyed in weeks! I couldn't get enough veg and fruit.
My Mum panicked about me not getting enough iron and was constantly making me spinach and orange soup (sounds yak but actually really nice) Also pasta and baked potatoes with various fillings..
It started to wear off around 25 weeks and I managed a steak for dh's birthday- gradually got back to normal after that.

It was a difficult few months...hopefully it'll pass soon for you...

My sister is a vegan, she eats quite a bit of tofu. Waitrose and Ocado stock one which is basil flavoured and she will actually eat it cold (almost like cheese sliced), but you could add it diced up to pasta with vegan pesto (which you can buy in a jar). They also do Taifun tofu grill sausages, which she has always liked and would make a good sausage sandwich or just a direct replacement for sausages. It depends what kinds of things you like eating, but a jacket potato with hummus and roasted vegetables is quite hearty and filling.

Occasionally, I used to make her a veggie stew including beluga lentils in the slow cooker along with puffy herb dumplings made with vegetable suet. The whole family used to eat it. We'd have mash with it and she would have boiled potatoes.

There's lots of ideas on places like Pintrest.

I was the same - went off meat, fish and vegetables. Threw up seeing a fish recipe coming up on my fb feed.

Not healthy but I lived off toast, pasta and potatoes, mostly chips! Tried to get some goodness in me with fruit juice and baked beans.

Same happened to me and I resorted to carbs I'm afraid, I hadn't the energy to rethink my entire lifestyle

I was the same, think it’s quite common to go off meat! I found I could manage it if well disguised in sauce like bolognaise or stew but mild flavours only. Been pretty much veggie both pregnancies though, lentils and chickpeas are good!

Not helpful at all but the opposite was true for me. I've never liked meat, I'm not veggie as I can eat a bit of chicken and like a roast but just don't really like much meat but whilst pregnant I couldn't get enough. Looking back my first pregnancy 'symptom'was eating a cooked breakfast on my honeymoon!

I went right off meat, chicken especially.
