Worried about progression

Hi, I recently found out I am pregnant at just 17. I had a small bleed and quite bad cramping the other night so went into hospital the next day. They checked my cervix which is closed and did a urine sample which showed an infection which was probably causing the cramps. I had a scan yesterday and although I thought I was about 5 weeks the nurse thinks I am earlier. She found the sack and forming of a yolk with an internal scan but no heart beat or baby. I'm going back in two weeks for another scan.
Is this bad? Should I be worried?

Even at 5 weeks it's too early to see anything more. I had an early scan around the same time and also had to go back 2 weeks later. At the first scan I was told 5 weeks, at the 2nd I was then 8 weeks! Don't worry too much, the next scan is done mainly for viability and you should be able to see a heartbeat by that point. Good luck and congratulations!

Thank you so much! That is very reassuring.

I had a scan at 5 and half weeks and there was only a sac, then had to go back 10 days later. Everything was fine and I'm now 27 weeks. Best of luck! x

@ForeverHopeful21 awww it's so nice to know that this has happened to other people. Thank you! And all the best to you and the rest of your pregnancy😊

My dates made me almost 11 weeks when I had my first scan due to lots of cramping (thankfully I was kind of suspecting that my dates were off). First scan they could literally just see a sac, possibly the beginnings of the yolk and said I was probably somewhere between 4 and 5 weeks. I had a scan two weeks later and all was well and saw a little heartbeat at 6+2. Now 7+5 and everything seems to be going okay!

YoungmumB · 18/01/2018 19:12

@Didntcomeheretofuckspiders wow that's very far out but at least everything was okay. I thought I was around 5 weeks but I think I may only be 4 from what the nurse said. All I wanted to hear was that little heart beat to make sure everything was okay.

Hello. I’m sorry I don’t have any useful advice for you, but I really hope it all works out well for you and your baby. Maybe you would find some nice people in similar stages or of a similar age to you in the young mums thread. I’ve put a link below.
