Please someone give me some comfort and tell me their immune system is as shot as mine. 19 weeks preg, the past few weeks I have had the worst cold of my life followed by tonsillitis, a three day hospital admission. I'm still on antibiotics and now I have chronic diarrhoea :( I can't cope!!! What's worse is for my tonsillitis I was signed off for nearly three weeks from work, now I have this I'm just dreading work. I know your immune system is lowered but my god it's like
Mine is gone!!!

Yes, it can be extra rough when you're pregnant. Are you taking any supplements? I imagine you're taking vitamin d, which should help strengthen your immune system. If you aren't already, I'd take some extra vitamin C every day. There is probably some in your pregnancy vitamins, but it's water soluble so you really can't take too much (well, you can, but not unless you tried really hard). An extra 500-1000 mg a day would help. I'd also start on a quality probiotic because of the antibiotics and take that for at least a month after you finish the anti-bs. I had to be on antibiotics last month (for a skin infection, which was annoying but at least I didn't feel too terrible) and I'm still taking probiotics and they've definitely helped with digestive symptoms.

Thank you I'll try the probiotic! Yeah I've maxed out every vit there is! 😫 honestly I'm so exhausted with being ill, I spoke to my midwife and she just said it hits people harder than others...... thanks for the advice xxxx

When I mentioned to my MiL that your immune system was lower during pregnancy she said "oh I was told when I was pregnant that it's the healthiest I'd ever be." 🙄

I said "well they lied".

You have my sympathy. I've just overcome a 5 week cold, chest infection, sinusitis and double eye infection. I couldn't eat for a week and ended up in hospital. Same as you - signed off work and prescribed antibiotics which then led to explosive diarrhoea! Its been awful. I now have a phobia of being in contact with anyone else just in case I'm ill again!!

Even if you're doing all you can, you might just be more prone if your immune system is suffering and white cell count is low. Stay warm and rested for as long as possible x

Hi ladies, OP totally relate to this I work in a school and literally pick up everything. Was signed off with a chest infection, which I honestly just wanted to die with! Think you start getting down aswell when it's one thing after the other! Now I'm ocd, addicted to hand gel and cleaning anything the children touch as I'm terrified of getting ill again! Roll on spring is what I say!! X

Well your immune system is lowered given a growing baby behaves like a parasite. It has to be or the body would deal with it.

Doesn't help though, I got every bug going when I was pregnant.

I really do feel for you, I feel the same. I'm 15 weeks pregnant and my immune system has been the worst ever. I've had gastroenteritis early on in pregnancy followed by constant hospital trips with having 6 Water infections since being pregnant. Also I've had morning sickness all the way through it has been hell!! But I am SO excited to have the baby just it's getting me down how sick I've been, it's draining.Sad

Ladies thank you so much for the replies!!!! I just feel like people think I'm being a complete hypochondriac! I mean I don't blame them I would probably think the same if I wasn't pregnant! But my god! I've had to go home from work tonight because I kept getting stuck on calls which were... "close calls" 😂

I though it was just me, when I say to work my immune systems low they just look at me like I've taken some crazy pills lol
