High progesterone

Had bloods done today. On basis of LMP I'm 4+1. Consultant ordered HCG and Progesterone as I'm 39+4 months and had a MMC August.

HCG cane back at 639. Progesterone at 123. Shitting the progesterone. Most websites saying low progesterone can then miscarry/be ectopic but a chart my consultant showed me (pre-results) showed progesterone over 90 as high risk of ectopic.

Hoping he's going to call me tomorrow but absolutely panicking - I just can't go through another loss. Not at my age. I've no kids and wasted my best fertile years on a lying cheating fucker.

Does anyone have any experience of high progesterone?

Had acupuncture right at start of FW this cycle - not sure if that contributed.

This probably sounds a stupid question, but are you sure?
I’ve only ever heard about ectopics being correlated with low progesterone. High progesterone tends to indicate a viable pregnancy. That’s also a decent HCG level for 4+1. My two ectopics were continuing to grow when diagnosed but I don’t think my HCG hit that sort of level until after 5 weeks and my progesterone never exceeded 30.

Yep my OH saw the table too but I can't find it anywhere online.

Been awake all bloody night sick with worry.

Just hoping someone from his office calls me today to say nothing to worry about.

Had implantation bleeding (which didn't have with the MMC pregnancy) so just hoping that's a good sign it's where it should be.

This TTC is a minefield. No one prepares you for all of this.

Panic over! Consultants sec called and said she'd spoken to him. All is fine and I don't need repeat bloods. He's not concerned and has said there is good progesterone to support the pregnancy.

They will scan me on 6 Feb which will be 7+2 presuming we get that far. So I've just got to hang in there really.

I really don't want to lose this one. First child and EDD will be 3 days after I turn 40.

I had a very high progesterone level when I had my ectopic last March, and it was rising so the only option for me was to have surgery as it was too high for any drugs.

I'm not sure whether this is the case all the time, but that is how it was for me... Hmm

It can happen, NooNoo, but is unusual. A progesterone level of above 25ng/ml rules out ectopic pregnancy the overwhelming majority of the time, which is why it seems very odd to me that a doctor would have a chart suggesting the opposite ( and odder still that he would show it to a woman who is clearly anxious about her pregnancy when there is no indication whatsoever that anything is wrong) .

OP, in your shoes (and I have sort of been there, since I’ve had 2 ectopics, 4 miscarriages and 2 normal pregnancies) I’d be considering whether another doctor might be a bit less , er, alarmist. TBH it’s fairly unusual in my experience for a doctor to take blood at 4 weeks as often the results don’t tell you much, and it has led to you having a lot of stress over nothing.
