Does anyone know if you can take any decongestants or antihistamines when pregnant?
Got terrible blocked nose and nothing is easing it. Giving me sinus headache.
I read somewhere that loratadine antihistamine and phenylephrine hydrochloride decongestants were ok to take but the boxes say no.

Anyone know?

I've been prescribed antihistamines for morning sickness. I'm taking phenegran. Gp prescribed and said they were fine

Not sure about decongestants though, have you tried inhaling steam till you can speak to a gp or pharmacist?

I was told Piriton was ok but chose not to take it as I'm avoiding medication where possible. Steam is a good decongestant with no side effects!

Try menthol crystals in a bowl of hot water and breathe the steam in, Olbas Oil and Vicks works too.

Just got over that horrid cold that's going round and I can finally breathe again.

Hope you feel better soon .

I have a hideous cold again hence the 3 am
Post.

Second trimester you can use vicks as a chest/ foot rub and make a bowl of hot water up

Simple linctus is ok

Honey lockets are ok. Contains menthol but in small amounts so thats yor decision to take or not.

Im drinking lemon and ginger tea with a spoon of manuka right now.

And a couple of paracetamol.

I have awful allergic rhinitis and my OB said I was fine to take Zirtek.

I read decongestants cam affect flow to the placenta hence why your not allowed to have lemsips cold flu tabs etc........

I've been prescribed antihistamines though so assume they're ok but always worth discussing with MW first x x

I use a Beconase spray twice a day - it’s been so helpful!
