I'm 29+6.

Have had a weird 'down below pressure feeling all day so haven't really been able to sit down flat on my bum.

Lying in bed now I can't sleep and I've had a couple of episodes of intense pain in my lower back which have then eased off after about 30 seconds (obviously I'm having a meltdown that these are contractions).
Baby is still kicking away.

Am I being absurd? This couldn't be labour, could it?

Call your maternity unit if you are concerned, they will be able to best advise you.

GreggsSausageRolls · 14/01/2018 22:40

Could they be braxton hicks?
Can you call the maternity ward/unit and speak to a midwife? You may be able to go in for a check up?
Here for a hand hold

BrutusMcDogface · 14/01/2018 22:41

Yes, call maternity. It could be a uti (I've never had one but I think it can cause pains like this).

Either way, best to get checked over. Flowers

IrregularCommentary · 14/01/2018 22:42

Very unlikely to be true contractions, but do ring your midwife unit if you're worried. It's what they're there for and they won't be annoyed by you calling.

TiffTaffTop · 14/01/2018 22:43

I had a similar thing where it was nerve pain. Came and went in waves. Super painful and very difficult to sit down. Saw a private physio and got it sorted.

If you are worrying, do call your midwife! Always best to get checked out!!

I never had Braxton hicks with dc1 so I've no idea what they're meant to feel like- are they painful?

I always read on here people saying "Oh I don't want to call maternity, I'm probably over-reacting" and Think- just call them you silly woman! ... But I think I probably am just overreacting here. Haven't had another pain since I wrote the original post. But still feeling pressure Confused

Just call, it's probably nothing but it's just not worth the risk xx

chocolateorangeowls · 14/01/2018 22:46

Ps I had no pain with my Braxton hicks

Mrstumbletap · 14/01/2018 22:54

I had braxton hicks and my stomach went all tight. Like a big cramp across the front of the bump. Was really weird and quite uncomfortable.

Just monitor OP, maybe put the telly on for an hour have a warm drink and try to relax and monitor how you feel.

Lulu2515 · 14/01/2018 23:04

Thanks for your replies.

Pains have completely stopped now, just the pressure feeling.

Going to try and sleep I think. Assume if it's anything serious/kicking off then I won't be able to sleep!

Hi there. The pressure is possibly from baby as might be engaged. And it sounds like Braxton Hicks.
My first pregnancy was like that. Daughter was engaged early and I had painful braxton Hicks. Remember being in Asda and having to hold on to the freezer it was that painful.
One thing I have learnt with previous 2 pregnancies. No question is to silly to ask and the midwife team are alwys there for support. X

I had this yesterday!
I'm 27 weeks.
Started with some low pressure in the morning which bothered me when standing, then by early evening I had intense pains on side of bump through to my back. It would come and go in waves and at one point I was on all fours on the floor! My DH did some Googling and told me it was Braxton Hicks so I just struggled through until it died down. I've had all kind of pains all the way through my pregnancy so I don't tend to get too worried but this was by far the worst pain I've had yet!

Today I'm completely fine, no pains or pressure and can feel baby kicking away as normal.

Lulu2515 · 15/01/2018 17:17

Thanks for your message forever scary, isn't it
Anyway, I was clearly totally over reacting as I'm totally fine today with just a bit of pressure. Guess maybe maybe has nestled down a bit.
