Plus Size Maternity Wear?

Does anyone know of anywhere that does decent plus size maternity wear? By "plus size" i dont mean what a magazine would consider a plus size, being size 16-18, but I'm talking proper plus size, as in size 20+

Evans unfortunately do not do maternity wear (fat people getting preggers obviously doesn't enter into their equation) and I'm not really sure where else to look!

I've done some googling but only come up with stuff that goes up to about a size 18 (pfft!!) or some really gruesome USA sites where the maternity stuff is like something out of "Little House on the Prairie".

I want funky, fashionable and fresh!!!

Any ideas anyone?!!

i was size 20 and some h and m maternity stuff fitted and some dotty perkins. would offer it you but flogged on ebay...have a look there maybe?

Simply Be have just added a bit to their catalogue.

Dotty P's did some a couple of years back and next went up to a 20.

Size 20 wont be big enough for me. Normally I'm a 22/24.

I had a look on Simply Be the other day but didn't reckon too much on their stuff - was a bit horrible??

Just have to keep looking i spose or just buy bigger stuff from Evans. sigh

Oh yes, forgot about H&M - I had some stuff from them. Only available in some stores though, annoyingly.

I have had the same problem through my last pregnancies - Iwas a 22/24 too. I actually got some size 22 maternity jeans from next which felt very big on me - I had to keep them up with a belt after a while (perversly, I loose weight when pregnant). They are still in good nick if you are interested - they are boot cut and black and a generous 22. I am away for a few days, but will put a photo of them on my profile when I get back if you are interested.

Next maternity goes up to a 22, so does Additions (but it tends to be a bit cheap and nasty IME)

I might take a look in Next to see if they have anything that i could possibly squeeze into lol.

I'm a complete nightmare when it comes to trousers tho. I have large thighs so most bootcut trousers i cant even get to my waist!! Normally only loose fit trousers will go round my ol' tree trunks so i think out of sensibleness, I will decline the offer of the jeans because, quite honestly, i dont think they'll fit .

Hi. I was a size 22 when I got pregnant for the 2nd time. Next maternity are quite generous but you have to order them from the catalogue - the stores don't stock any maternity wear .
I also found Kays & Littlewoods catalogues to be ok. I got lots of stuff from ebay as well. Mothercare were totally cr*p as usual and only go upto a size 20 and that's at a push! Peacocks now do a maternity range but that's upto to size 20 again.
I found on the whole, maternity wear to be quite generous in sizing and comfortable fit into size 20 Next 3/4 trousers uptil the end of my 9 months.

Oh i didn't think about catalogues!

When i was pregnant with my DS1 (he's nearly 17 now!) I was only allowed one maternity dress, which i wore to work practically every day for the whole of my pregnancy. I'm so determined NOT to be like that again!! lol!!

You may find that you don't get that much bigger than you are normally, I didn't with ds2 - I wore normal jogging bottom.

I know what you are going through as I'm a size 24 as well. To be honest I haven't bought any maternity tops at all as the current trend for smock tops are all fab for maternity wear. I bought about 8 tops from 'Yours' (a plus size store in our local shopping centre, but they have a lot of branches in the SE and are much cheaper than evans) which will do me all the way through. For trousers I bought 3 pairs of summer trousers from JD Williams / simply be and got a pair of work trousers from here

be warned though the trousers from that last company come up very large - I would order a size lower than your regular size.

The rest of my stuff for my holidays (capri trousers, swimsuit, t shirts etc) I bought a size or two larger than normal from J D Williams online when they had a sale. To be honest though I'm not really showing much at all and I'm 22 weeks. In that terrible position where my jeans don't fit but all the maternity clothes I have are enormous!

Yeah, I got a couple of pairs of trousers from simply be in my usual size and they were huuuge, perhaps go for a size down from usual. Also, I noticed some of the nightwear on simply be was bit flimsy/revealing, but their partner company fiftyplus has some more practical hospital worthy sleepwear/dressing gowns.

There are a few ebay shops for plus size maternity stuff, also nursing tops, I'll have a quick look for you....

I've had the exact same problem - I'm a size 22/24 and I've been on the lookout for whatever I can get that looks and feels nice.

I've managed to get quite a few bits from ebay - I just type in 'maternity 22' and loads comes up and they are quite reasonably priced too. I got a pair of NEXT work trousers size 24 and they are massive on me at the moment but they will be great when my bump gets much bigger (I'm 18+5).

In our town, M&S and Next don't stock maternity stuff on their shelves but the lady in Next offered that they can order stuff in from their catalogue. Annoyingly Dotty P do stuff up to a size 22 online but only up to an 18 in our local store.

I ended up buying some baby doll tops from evans last week because they look just like maternity tops and are just the right shape. I also found a pair of cropped trousers in Mothercare on the sale rack - they are a size 20 but they have plenty of room and fit very comfortably with lots of room for growth.

Wow, bananabump, I hadn't come across those ebay stores before, they look good! (sorry, x post).

Oh, and another little tip I found useful - Instead of buying maternity knickers, I just went to bonne marche and bought some big knickers size 26 and they're very cheap and do the job. I don't see the point in paying loads for underwear just for a few months! I'm going to get some cheap hip huggers from the market for after delivery iykwim.

some asda stores stock maternity wear in 22ish size, i also got a lot of stuff from next in maternity size 22. HTH. mine all went on ebay aterwards.

Unfortunately my local asda doesn't stock maternity wear either (grrrr) but thats good for those who do have one that stocks it...

Another thing I bought was a handy little 'bump belt' - basically a piece of stretchy jersey that you put over your jeans and below your t-shirts. It makes you t-shirts look longer. If I can find a link.....

It was just like a boob tube but in different colours and fitted as I have described above. It came in handy as I could wear my normal tops without the front being too obviously short!!!

Almost all my tops are too short now, the worst revealing two or three inches of jellybelly! I have taken to stealing a couple of dp's tshirts (why are mens clothes longer and better made??)

But as Hersetta said, the wrap/smock tops out at the moment fit perfect as maternity wear, and generally New Look have a good selection going up to size 26.

All/most of my knickers are under the bump ones, but they're getting tight now (ass increasing, nooo!) so I might check out the bon marche ones, although I've noticed ethel austins do huuuge granny pants for about £1.50 if you don't mind the sprigged frilly edged up to the tits type.

I was the same size as you when I got pg with ds1.I also had the same problem and did mainly buy clothes from Evans,just the next size up.I also bought a few bits from Bjornandme who I found to be very good.Some of their stuff is very pricey but they often have sale items where you can get an absolute bargain,AND I believe they went upto about a size 28 from what I can remember.

Apparently Asds have stopped doing Maternity wear. Not available round here anyway.

Dorothy Perkins and Next both go up to size 22.
