Feeling guilty - can't stop eating rubbish!

Am 12 wks preg and last night was the third time in a week I've eaten pepporoni pizza! Been suffereing from MS and eating junk food seems to be the only thing that helps! I'm eating cheese, bread, pasta, not much fruit other than the odd banana / apple / pear. My last preg was much healthier - I was working full time and it was easier not to eat rubbish, but now as SAHM, the food is there all the time and it's hard to resist! Help me!!!

I agree with you, cannot stop eating rubbish, had Burger King last night, eating more crisps and chocolate than usual.

Felt so ill and tired that trying now to be better and bought loads of fruit to eat (lets see how long this lasts)

I'm eating loads of rubbish too! It's all i can stomach at the moment. I was on low-carb before i fell pregnant but now the thought of eating all those lovely recipes or preparing meat just really makes me feel physically sick. I'm just loving the chips at the moment!! NOT GOOD!!!

I ate quite a bit of junk food whole preg and ds was nearly 9lb mind you did the same first time and dd was 2lb lighter. Now am breastfeeding and when you can actually see baby it makes you feel even more guilty, still ate choc dessert and creme egg for lunch. Then decided if I had banana and apple it would cancel the other stuff out?!

RGPargy · 26/04/2007 14:57

LOL Maxbear. I like your thinking!

Cocobear · 26/04/2007 14:57

I survived most of the first twelve weeks on ice water and vitamin tablets thanks to wicked MS. I really wouldn't worry about the quality of your diet at this stage. If you're still scarfing junk once the MS has subsided, then it's probably time to locate some inner self-control! But surely you're still allowed the odd pizza? The odd dozen donuts? And an entire bag of chocolate cookies? You know, just sometimes...

RGPargy · 26/04/2007 14:59

I would agree with you there, but I've not had any MS!! The only thing that makes me feel sick is the thought of my low-carb goodies!

luckylady74 · 26/04/2007 15:01

my twins came out fine and i'd been to the chippy at least twice a week - take a multi vit for pregnancy to ease the guilt! i also think that if you get deli sausage rolls or pastys then there's less guilt than chain store ones.

Cocobear · 26/04/2007 15:07

RGPargy - surely no pregnant woman can survive a lo-carb diet?? It's not natural, it ain't. We need chips and pastries for, uh, health reasons.

RGPargy · 26/04/2007 15:33

Cocobear - errr, yeah, that's what i keep telling myself . Chocolate and chips are very umm.... healthy!

I found I couldn't stomach anything unless it was unhealthy for the first 12 weeks....a couple of biscuits to start the day, something stodgy for lunch and something similarly stodgy for dinner! I just went off everything else - I know that they say, if you have that REALLY severe sickness where you can't keep anything down, it's unlikely to harm the baby (unless very extreme and they need to drip feed!) so kind of went to the same logic - just took a combined pregnancy multi-vit folic acid tablet. Fingers crossed that was ok! But basically, I either ate rubbish or nothing, so thought rubbish was the better option!

PregnantGrrrl · 27/04/2007 15:21

i couldn't stomach much in the first sort of 10wks this time round. Fruit turned my stomach, and i ended up looking through the cupboards and freezer for whatever didn't make me feel ill if i imagined eating it- often crap.

15 weeks now- feeling better. Fruit is ok, trying to eat more veg. Drinking a glass of juice and several glasses of skimmed milk a day (although not together-blurgh!). Still had no-so-healthy meals, but mostly doing ok.

RGPargy · 27/04/2007 15:45

I've just started eating fruit again - yay!!!

Right, i'm off to find some change for the vending machine. The Toffee Crisp in there is calling me!!!

Eaglebird · 27/04/2007 15:50

I had pineapple pieces & yogurt, a toasted bagel and a glass of pomegranate juice for breakfast. Swiftly followed by 5 squares of Dairy Milk chocolate.
I'm nearly 15 weeks and am having to undo the button on my jeans. It's not a bump though, it's pure lard

Holymoly321 · 27/04/2007 17:07

Sooo glad I am not the only one! Don't feel so bad now about eating three bowls of cocopops as dinner last night!
