Third baby sweep

Hi,

First time posting here.

Just wondering peoples experiences with sweeps working at 38 weeks with their third baby?

1st baby - none worked and i went overdue 16 days!
2nd baby - second sweep worked at 38+6 and i had her at 39+1

so just wondering how likely it is that this sweep will work first time?

Hi, I don't really believe in them as think those they've worked may have gone on to have their baby around the same time anyway. More say they don't work than do. I think there's enough prodding and poking when you're pregnant and give birth let alone letting the midwife fumble down there before the baby arrives. Mind you I was 2 weeks over due and had to be induced so always wonder if I hadn't have been so stubborn and had it done would it have worked!?!

I've heard lots of dates helped and that was the one food I didn't try last time so I will try that if go on to have a nother.

Nope. Sweeps will do nothing unless baby was about to come anyway. At 38 weeks you still have a very normal 4 weeks to go potentially so I would just focus on your end date of 42 weeks and not be worrying about what thing you can do to force baby to come before it's ready.

They won't usually sweep you till 40 weeks unless you are about to be induced anyway.

Ah so you only have to wait till 41 weeks. Slightly easier. Good luck!

Wish my Midwife's were that kind, I had to wait until 42 weeks to be induced I was soooo uncomfortable! Next time I'm going down the dates route!

I'm 41 weeks and had my 4th sweep yesterday.... still no sign of baby 😩

Just to add, this is my 4th baby too!!!
