Baby dropping centiles on growth scan - should I worry?

I am 29+5 with dcda twins and at a scan today, one twin was holding steady on her growth curve but the other's abdominal circumference had dropped from 50th to 5th centile.

Anyone experienced this? How worried would you be? They are pulling me in for a rescan in 2 weeks but said to keep an eye on his movements.

I'm only carrying one baby but he dropped from 50th percentile to 10th percentile. Two weeks later back up to about 40th percentile so they're happy. I think it's literally a case of hold tight and see. Crap advice, sorry

Oh well that's nice to know it's not necessarily a one-way street!

They were talking about inducing early if the third scan didn't look good but that's mainly because i am quite far along so that would have been a good option.

I think these scans are such rough guides. She said baby is 5lb11 give or take a pound. A pound is quite a large amount!

I’ve been having to have growth scans as my baby has been hovering between 10th and 5th centile throughout the entire pregnancy. I had another scan yesterday. He’s completely fell off the growth chart (below 5th centile) and hasn’t put any weight on at all since the last growth scan two weeks ago, although at that last one he’d put on 13oz in two weeks.....I put that down to a massive Christmas dinner!!
I’m 39 weeks and three days today, he’s apparently weighing 5lb 11. I had to go to hospital yesterday after my scan to be hooked up to a monitor yesterday and although baby is fine, I have had to have a sweep yesterday and am booked for induction on Sunday as they aren’t happy to leave him in as there’s no growth. I’m back in first thing tomorrow morning to be hooked up to a monitor again.
I’m not trying to scare you by the way, just telling you of my experience so far. First baby and I am very nervous!

Sorry he’d put on 11oz in one week over Christmas but two!

Smellybears · 12/01/2018 08:38

I wasn’t nervous about the growth scans and kept telling myself to stop worrying as there’s no point. They are keeping an eye on your baby by scanning and your baby has put weight on which is a good thing :)
I’m only nervous now because a sweep has been performed and an induction is booked meaning I’m going to see him very soon!

Hi,
I'm now 34 weeks with McDa twins and same happened to us around the same time too. Both babies growth had slowed down and twin 2 had dropped to the 10th centile. It was all completely fine at the next scan though and they are both still doing nicely, just under the 50th centile last week.
HTH x

Oh thanks for reassuring stories. One difficult thing is they have said to go in if his movements fall off but i have an anterior placenta for him and often can't feel him for a day or so at a time. I can't go in every time or I'd never be out of the bleedin' place!!

They said the same to me, despite me telling them I haven't ever had a pattern of movements with either twin that I could follow as being normal. It felt like the most unhelpful advice they could give.
I tried to get into a routine in the morning before and after work lying on each side after drinking some freezing cold orange juice to try and gauge a movement or two so at least I had that to put my mind at rest. Didn't and still doesn't always work, although movements now are more noticeable with them having a lot less room to move. Half an hour after mentioning reduced movements at the hospital they were both non-stop for the rest of the afternoon. They were fine about it there too so don't worry if you do have to keep heading up there x

Zill that is a good idea, re the routine, may steal it! Thanks.
