Why am I so tired?

17/18weeks and I am exhausted.
This is my third baby, so I know I have children already at home to look after, I'm working full time in a senior position which I love but I just want to sleep all the time. I'm still nauseous a lot and I'm on tablets which do ease it a little. I'm not eating lots as I can only manage small portions but I am snacking.
I'm not really sure what I'm asking. Anyone else felt or feel like this? Will it get better? I was never this tired with the other two! Any tips to help? My poor hubby is having to do everything!

I'm nearly 17 weeks with number 2 and work 4 days a week. I'm also still very tired and going to bed by 8pm most nights!
I think it's just part and parcel of pregnancy - every pregnancy is different! If you're worried though maybe ask your gp to test your iron levels?

I'm pregnant with my first and have really struggled all the way through with tiredness. I can't imagine how difficult it must be with two other children to take care of.

My midwife had my iron levels checked and it turned out that I was slightly anaemic. She recommended I take Spatone supplements, and they made a world of difference. Might be worth a shot?

I found mine got better, about 24 weeks I think, working full.time while pregnant is really hard. I was doing 46 hours a week and really struggled.

Which tablets OP? I took cyclizine this time and they knocked me right out.

My blood tests came back fine but I might mention it to my gp as I've got to go in and ask for some ranitidine and I'm not seeing my midwife again for another 6 weeks.

I am on cyclizine, didn't think about that causing it. Plus I've taken a few extra tablets this week as I've been struggling with the nausea so that may have made me even tireder.

Thanks for the ideas ladies Smile

Yes to the cyclizine causing drowsiness! They used to knock me out, I had to change to something else ( also because they stopped working but that's another matter).

Yep cyclizine made me a zombie, plus pregnancy is just so tiring in itself and it sounds like you have lots of responsibilities on top of that. I'm on prochlorperazine now (34 weeks) and they definitely don't have such an impact with regards to tiredness so you could ask the GP about changing your meds. I think being exhausted is also quite normal though, especially if you're feeling nauseous as that in itself is really tiring. Allow yourself a rest whenever you can.

UnitedKungdom · 11/01/2018 11:30

Definitely the cyclizine OP. I only took it once a day and not every day. Within 45 mins of taking it I'd be zombied and falling asleep so if you are taking it properly the few times a day no wonder you are tired!
