What happens? I have heard you get to hear the baby's heartbeat but wasn't sure. Dh wants to come if we'll hear it but no point coming if not really. It's not at the hospital this appointment,,

TIA

I was in and out in 10 minutes. They do your blood pressure, pulse, dip test urine.
Some may do a doppler heartbeat, but many don't as it's frequently not heard or difficult to find at 16 weeks which then causes worry for you.

They did at mine and my OH missed it and I was devastated! I will be taking him along to this one just in case

I've literally just got back from mine! I didn't get to listen to the heartbeat, although my midwife told me at my booking in appointment that they don't do that, so I wasn't expecting it. I just had blood pressure taken, and had to have blood taken as my blood type is rhesus negative. And that was pretty much it! I was in and out in 15 mins.

The heartbeat was the highlight for me and the reason why OH came to it; the rest of it is blood pressure and urine check.

My H wouldn’t have been able to get off work anyway. I did hear the heartbeat, which was lovely. H coped fine and was just pleased to hear that all was going well with me and the baby. Some people record the Doppler so you could ask if you could do that

I heard the heartbeat and recorded it on phone for husband. He was happy that he at least got to hear it

TheLionQueen1 · 09/01/2018 21:49

They wouldn't check the heartbeat at my 16 wk and I was gutted as thought they did, I ended up buying a Doppler that evening!
