What size sleepsuits should I buy the most of for the early days is baby is likely around 7.5-8lbs? Newborn or Up to 1 month? So many choices it is confusing.

I've gone for a few newborn bits but mainly up to 1 month.
My logic was it will be better him be too small for them and grow into the ones I've bought and I can get someone to run out and get more newborn bits if needed and I can't get some myself.

DS is currently 8lbs 10 and still in newborn.

Most websites say the actual weight on them - 'newborn' can be anything from 7.5lb to 9lb depending on the store! Mine is now 9lb7 and just outgrowing most newborn.

YerAuntFanny · 09/01/2018 14:43

Mine were both around the 7lb mark (6.15 and 7.2) and needed tiny baby until around 9lbs as they were slim built so I think it depends on that too.

My DS was 53cm so was better off in footless when he started stretching out.

hard to say, I had to cut the feet of sleepsuits in the hospital as DS was too long and couldn't fit in the legs. He was 9'13 and 59cm long. Now 6'3" and still growing. If that's a possibility then try to get some footless ones and take in socks. I'd say better too big than too small.

It's a tricky one to judge, even with the weight guides!

Both my children were 9lb at birth. DD fitted in newborn for about 4 weeks. DS was too long for newborn on the first day!

I'm taking a mix of newborn and 0-3 month into hospital this time, just in case.

They had estimated DD at about 8lb beforehand, so you can't tell how big they're going to be until they're actually here.

Thank you so much everyone. Guess the best option is having a few of each in the hospital bag just incase!

My DS was 7lb 8, was in newborn at birth but was in 0-3 at 2-3 weeks old.

I would look at the weight ranges. Every brand is different really. My first was 6lbs 9 oz at birth and we were in new baby sizes until she was 3 months! It's worth having a few of each, but don't go crazy, and then buy more once you know what you need.

Thanks for the tips I think I will keep what I've bought for now and hold off on more until little one arrives Smile

Our wee one was in premmies as she is so slender until about 4 weeks old then into 0-3 from there. Footless ones and warm socks is an easy solution. Our wee girl is now 3, in 5-6 clothing due to height and is 109cm 🤗😲 but has no bum and is slender like her dad.

I wish I'd bought more newborn clothes! DS was 7lb6oz and was in newborn clothes for the first month!
We had to go out a day after he was born and buy more newborn clothes! But yes, I would advise to wait until little one is here before buying heaps of one size! I wish I had!
