Hi all :) just wondering when did you have your early Scan and they were able to confirm all is ok or even heard the heartbeat? I have a situation that I have to have it done at 6 weeks 4 days... is it possible they will be able to reassure me All is ok or is it definitely too early?

I've had two at about that time. One they could see heartbeat, the other they couldn't and I had to go back 2 weeks later.

7 weeks & 2 days - saw the heartbeat :-)

If you can at all I’d aim for 8 weeks- a heartbeat at 8 weeks means miscarriage risk drops to 1-2%. I had a scan at 7+4 with DD, saw a heartbeat.

Unfortunately I can’t wait that’s the worry...

Bluechameleon do you remember any difference between both pregnancies? Did you get your BFP maybe later with the one they couldn’t see the heartbeat? Ps apart from heartbeat was everything else ok? Are they able to say at this point?

Had scan at 6+3 and heartbeat was seen, I have another one today at 1pm. Waiting til 7 weeks is better but if bleeding etc most epus will scan after 6 weeks.

I think at 6+4 you might see a heartbeat, but you wouldn’t panic if you didn’t. If implantation was even a day or two later than you thought that could make a big difference so early.

7+1 sure the heartbeat xxx

I’ve just had this experience. Due to holidays I had to have my first scan at 6+2 going by my lmp) whereas usually I have the first scan at 7weeks (miscarriage clinic). So although we could see a sac, fetal pole and heartbeat, the nurse was worried as the pole was measuring very small compared to sac and heartbeat was slow. She said there was nothing we could do but wait for 10 days and rescan. Honestly it was the longest 10 days of my life and I was pretty convinced the outcome wouldnt be good because I had no symptoms at all. Anyway, I just had the rescan and there was a growing baby with a strong heartbeat still measuring a little small but most probably I ovulated a little later. I’m so relieved now but the worry has been pretty intense. I don’t think I would want to scan before 7weeks again.

Seen a heartbeat at 6+0. But there wasn't anything else to see which was a little alarming. Just been scanned today at 7+4 and there was a little jelly baby!

First I had a scan at 6 weeks no heartbeat, later at 7+5 heartbeat

Second at 7+5 no heartbeat and mc

Third 5+5 heartbeat

mindutopia · 09/01/2018 12:28

I had one at 8+3 last time and around 7+5 this time. I also then had to have another around 9 weeks due to bleeding with this pregnancy, but that was an EPU scan. The other two were private scans I booked for reassurance.

Personally, I wouldn't choose to have a reassurance scan before 7 weeks as I think it's still all too variable and it's hard to know what you'll see as it's all very early yet. Obviously, it's different if you need to have one for medical reasons and that's just when it happens to be. But I wouldn't go out of my way to book one privately that early. It's possible you may see a heartbeat, but you also may not, especially depending on how sure you are of your dates.

With my last pregnancy, the 8 week scan unfortunately showed a missed mc, but I'm still very grateful that I had it otherwise I never would have known and would have had no way to prepare myself. The 7 week scan this time showed a very tiny baby and a heartbeat and I found it really reassuring, so it was very worth it again.

Good luck with yours.
