Not sure if any of you lovelies can help but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway!? I'm reading through my pregnancy notes from my scans (don't ask, my life has turned slightly boring) and it says the estimated due date by ultrasound is 23.02.2018 but it then says in brackets estimated due date by dates 09.02.2018. Which one is correct!?!? Or more accurate!? The baby has been measuring normal at the scans but my bump a little small. I know it's only 2 weeks difference but 2 weeks can mean alot to someone who's as unorganized as me. Hope this all makes sense!

They usually go by your 12 week scan, so I'd say the ultrasound date is most accurate.

Whatever your 12 week scan says will be your EDD. I'd go on whichever this is.
If you're still confused bring it up with midwife next and ask her to confirm :) xx

Your due date is 23rd

LittleBirdBlues · 08/01/2018 22:37

I had a big difference like that with one of my pregnancies.

By date means calculating based on the date of your last period. The ultrasound date is based on your 12 week scan. Based on the baby's length at that point they are able to tell quite accurately how many weeks and days pregnant you are. So this tends to be the more accurate measurement. Your due date is therefore end of February.

If your due date by ultrasound vs by dates are quite different it usually means that the date of your last period was either wrong, or you ovulated much later in the cycle than you thought.

@littlebirds thank you! I do vaugley remember being a bit unsure of my last period when they asked so I think their scan dates are definitely more accurate:)

Ultrasound definitely. With my DS my EDD by scan was 20th March but would have been 22nd February by LMP. He was born March 28th so LMP date was way out! This time around my due date is the same both ways.

LexieLulu · 09/01/2018 12:10

My estimated due date based on periods was 28/09, per scan was 12/10 and I had my DS on 23/10...

So although massively different, my date given from periods was wayyy out xx

Until your 12 week scan, for purposes of booking appointment and dating scan times your due date is always 9 months and 7 days from the first day of your last period. Once you’ve had the scan they can give you a more accurate date.
