Do you think this a miscarriage?

I’m about 6 weeks pregnant and haven’t been able to do anything all day since taking the dds to school as I’m suffering with what feels like period pain, although much stronger than normal. I also keep feeling sharp pains every now and then in my cervix. This started yesterday evening and as yet no bleeding.
It’s the not knowing whether I am having a miscarriage or not that’s playing on my mind right now. Did anyone else have a mc that started with strong period pain before bleeding? I know it’s not nice to talk about but knowing other people’s experiences of this would be helpful right now. Thank you

I have had several mc and all started with bleeding. I have had lots of successful pregnancies that all had pains /cramps in the early days..
Unfortunately op at this stage its a waiting game. .
Sorry not more useful.

I have 2dcs and then a miscarriage last year, and currently 11 weeks pg. All I can say is that I always had crampy pains early on which were strong enough to worry me, but when I actually had a miscarriage at 7 weeks the pains were different - more like labour, coming in waves with a distinct peak. I had a few hours of it before I started bleeding.
Good luck, I know how worrying it can all be x

My miscarriage started with period cramps that then felt heavier. However it’s hard to say what cramping is normal and what is not. Do You feel pregnant?

FaFoutis · 08/01/2018 17:55

I had blood for a few days before pain (like labour) with my mc. My successful pregnancies all gave me shooting pains around 6-8 weeks.
Good luck to you.

Thank you for your replies, I still feel the same pregnancy symptoms, just this cramping has been all day, I’ll have to take some pain relief if it carry’s on much longer. I’ve just spoken to my dh who was on his way home from work, I had told him at lunch I thought I was having a miscarriage and then when I told him just now lots of women seem to experience the cramping and have gone on to have babies he sounded really pleased and said we can be hopeful then! I wasn’t really expecting that from him, he’s been in shock a bit since we found out last week, we have two school age dds and were not planning any more but I think he must have got used to the idea already :)

The cramps could be implantation maybe? I had this and even slight bleeding as well around this stage and was convinced I was going to have a mc but all was well in the end. Have you spoken with your GP yet? I was sent for an early scan. Good luck Flowers

I had a private scan on Friday because I had no idea how many weeks I was due to coming off the depot injection in Feb and not having a period since! All they could see was the pregnancy sac which they said looked normal and a very faint smudge at the side which they said could have been the start of an embryo.

It's completely normal to have cramps like this, at least you know your sac is not in the Fallopian tube so you can rule out ectopic (they would have told you at the scan). There is still quite a bit more implanting to do at this stage.

I went to the GP at 10 weeks with really strong cramping with my 2nd pregnancy. She told me to wait it out as they obviously can't stop a M/C at this point. All was fine in the end, I had a small amount of spotting but no heavy bleeding. I was very nervous until my 12 week scan (which I was actually 14 weeks at) hope it is just more implanting Thanks

Loosemoose28 · 08/01/2018 20:41

My cramps I had early on had me doubled over using a hotwater bottle I also fainted a few times. Just like I am with my periods. I was covinced I was going to MC.

Currently 26 weeks pregnant.

My cramps with my MC where horrendous, I couldn't stand or anything. To the point I was lay on the bathroom sobbing because I couldn't move. This time I had some stronger cramps than normal with AF but I rang hospital and was asked to go in, I had a scan and everything was fine. I was told it was probably round ligament pain or stretching behind my c section scar. If you are in really bad pain I'd suggest going to A&E if you have a gynaecology ward they will prob see you xx

Just wanted to update that cramping has calmed down a lot, no bleeding and I am experiencing the joys of morning/all day sickness Grin
