Pregnant after ectopic?

Hi all just wondering if any of you are or have been pregnant after surgery for an ectopic? I had one a year ago and nothing has happened since, although we have only tried properly for two months. Also did you find your periods were a little off after? My cycles were always 27/28 days pre ectopic but now they are 24,27,28,33,24,27,28,33 and so on.

Hi,

I had an ectopic almost 3 years ago and my left tube was removed. My periods pre-ectopic were spot on 28 days, after ectopic there were always very early. Massive difference for me and very painful.

Now I am 23 weeks pregnant and we TTC for almost two years and gave up although we never used any precautions as we thought that it would never happen.

We were told our chances to conceive were almost non-existent so I has been a shock when we found out. I guess that having irregular periods make it very difficult to conceive as we don't know when we ovulate but obviously it is not impossible to get pregnant again Grin

We have found it very stressful and have had extra scans. Anything makes us worry but we are also very happy. It may take you a while to get pregnant but don't lose hope.

Good luck Smile

Oh thank you for your reply 😊 I’ve been told my chances are pretty good even though I only have one tube too, I wonder if they were just being nice? I’m so sorry you have been through such a tough time But so glad to hear that you have a little one on the way. I’m sure everything will go well for you 😊 can I ask the month you conceived, did you do anything different or special?

We didn't do anything different to be honest, it just happened. I know that it can take a bit longer to get pregnant but I also know that some women get pregnant soon after their ectopic. If the doctors have told you that your chances are pretty good it must be true otherwise they would have told you the opposite as they did with us.

Just relax and enjoy the intimacy with your partner, it will happen sooner or later

I’m 16w3d with DC2 now and had an ectopic and right tube removed in March last year. I found out I was pregnant on 19th Oct and my baby is due 21st June... yay!Smile

We weren’t being v careful since DD was born 7 years ago but never used protection as we didn’t think anything would ever happen.

After my ectopic, the consultant said I would most definitely be able to get pregnant again with my remaining healthy tube, and here I am having proved him correct! Apparently the remaining ovary on the tubeless side still functions, and the egg can travel across to the other remaining tube on the other side..! I’m going to say that I have a 50% chance that this happened in this pregnancy! GrinWink

Good luck with it all - i’m proof it can be fine and a success! Grin

Hi, just thought I'd let you know you can certainly conceive after an ectopic and when you do you'll be monitored more closely.

Unfortunately for me I had an ectopic in February 2012, (right tube removed) then conceived in September 2012 but MC, I then had another ectopic in February 2016 but wouldn't let them take my left tube out and asked them to save it in surgery instead, and they did.
I was then referred to a fertility clinic where they did the dye test to check my remaining tube, all was fine, gave me clomid and finally after so many years I've just found out I'm pregnant this week. :D
Naturally I'm having bloods every few days as it's too early to scan for another ectopic but it's completely possible and I have PCOS as well so don't give up hope.
