Nearly 28 weeks and only feeling movements below belly button top of belly very squishy which way would you say baby lying

No idea but I'm exactly the same! I've been measured and am spot on though midwife says baby feels petite and she struggled to work out baby's position to find her heartbeat (when found it was very low down indeed)
The spinning babies website has some belly mapping info that may help you.
I seem to remember my first pregnancy being similar but towards the end when baby was bigger I felt the movements all over - I suppose they're still very little at this stage.

The top of my belly is very firm and at my last mw app (28 weeks) she said he is breach at the moment. So from my very limited experience I would see your baby is head down or transverse (sideways). They can still move around a fair bit at this point though so may change.
