Hi everyone, I'm 14 weeks 2 days and ever since week 5 I've had awful back pain it just seems to be getting worse as the pregnancy progresses, some days are worse than others but it's normally awful at night and sometimes paracetamol doesn't work! Could anyone give me any advice? Is it just growing pains?

I don’t have help for you I’m afraid :( but hope you don’t mind me adding on for help.. I’m 15 weeks today and have been with you on the back pain for at least 4 weeks now. This week it moved from my back to pelvic area, and is like spasms of shooting pain (doesn’t last long and isn’t frequent as such). Like you, paracetamol doesn’t help. Is this just one of those things or should I get it checked out? I don’t like wasting NHS time?
Wish you better Cj0902

I had this with both pregnancies, with my first it stopped at 16 weeks and my second at about 30 weeks. I think it’s to do with your hormones and ligaments stretching. My midwife offered to get my a physio referral but then never came through in time to see if they would have been able to help. As you’re still early maybe worth asking for one now?

I'm just worried all the time, I've had two huge bleeds and the baby is perfect and hasn't been effected but the backache just makes me panic a little bit and make me feel uneasy does anyone else feel this way?

I YouTubed a prenatal massage video and had other DH watch it then copy it. Worked a treat. It's called pregnancy massage for back pain and is by baby center. It's the one where she's sitting on a chair. So far it's always either eliminated or dramatically reduced the pain and it's simple enough for a partner, relative or friend to do for you. Hope it works for you too!

Lol DH not other DH. Put other half initially but changed my mind, forgot to delete the other.
