Travel insurance?

Does anyone know if you need pregnancy specific travel insurance when going on holiday? I've googled but on every site when you click 'get a quote' in the pregnancy info section it just gives quotes for normal insurance. Does that mean any pregnancy related issues would be covered under the medical section?

I currently am 17 weeks pregnant with twins and we have an annual travel insurance policy which was taken out before I fell pregnant.
I travelled overseas just before Christmas and phoned insurance card to confirm if I was covered or if had to pay an additional pregnancy supplement. They advised no extra payment required and during pregnancy covered up until 32 weeks (24 weeks if pregnant with twins).

So obviously you would declare pregnancy when arranging insurance but as long as not beyond certain gestational period I think will be same cost. Of course that would be assuming otherwise in good health.

They don't seem to ask about pregnancy for the quotes though, only medical conditions

You do get pregnancy insurance specifically designed for us and it covers all sorts of medical issues and outcomes before during and after holiday until 24hrs after you come home (delays included).

Always mention it to insurer (friend is travel insurer) and you must declare any issues etc.

Apart from that see what a normal quote covers in pregnancy as not all is covered by some quotes.

I rang Holiday Safe to check yesterday. They cover until 28 weeks and then its just complications.

Some of the quotes I've seen don't even mention pregnancy so it's hard to understand what is covered. Will have a look at Holiday Safe though, thanks Crabby

Ravenhall do a pregnancy specific travel insurance product which is as comprehensive as I could find and covers eventualities that many others wouldn't. It was also pretty good value.
