I knew from my 20 week scan that I had a low lying placenta but I was under the impression that it was very likely to move - the sonographer wasn't even sure that it went all the way down to my cervix at 20 weeks and it was on the posterior wall.
I had another scan at 32 weeks (a few days ago) and was really shocked to find out that the placenta totally covers the cervix. My consultant recommended that I get signed off work immediately, put contingency plans in place for sudden bleeding and a rush to hospital, and have another scan at 36 weeks to see if we'll make it to a planned c-section at 39 weeks. She made the c-section sound scary too - said that she is 'anticipating' complications and gave me a list of things she might have to do to stop me bleeding.
I'm a bit of a mess after that news. I'm not sure what I'm looking for from this post really other than maybe some advice as to how to get through the next 4-6 weeks without having a daily panic attack? Anyone experienced the same thing? Did you get the same sort of advice?
