Lifting heavy shopping bags

Should I be worried? I’m 16w1d and lifted a couple of bags carrying them back from Sainsbury’s to my car with my DD.

They weren’t really heavy but I had evenly distributed 3 bottles between three bags (my DD carried one in which was lighter).

I know I am prob being paranoid about this but I am so so happy to be pregnant after wanting this baby for so long - nearly 7 years! - and I would be devastated if i’d caused something to go wrong just through lifting a couple of grocery bags once.Hmm

I read that it’s you rather than the baby in danger, because of stretchier ligaments etc.
I’m sure you’re fine. Smile

Totally fine, I was lifting a toddler whilst pregnant so the shopping should be okay

I think (though happy to be corrected) that the only risk with heavy objects and pregnancy is that you are more likely to hurt yourself as your ligaments etc all soften. AFAIK there is no risk to the baby. I wouldn't worry.

Thank you all! Yes, my anxiety is being a good friend again! I did think it wasn’t going to cause any problems but I didn’t want to just take things for granted. 😖

Hi OP, please don't worry. I'm 34 weeks with my fourth and today had to lift around 20 (!) shopping bags from one end of my house to the other. Although what I actually want to do is sit on the sofa eating Doritos all day, life in our house would grind to a halt if I stopped doing everything. I suffer from SPD too so have to really pace myself but do little bursts of activity with breaks in between if things really start to ache. It's definitely you that's at risk and not your baby as he or she is tucked away quite comfortably thanks Grin

Lifting anything destroys my pelvis right now, but it doesn’t harm baby - just feels as though my insides are trying to escape in all kinds of directions
