BFN after drinking lots of water?

I’ve had 4 BFPs over the last 2.5 weeks and went for an early scan today as I had some bleeding and passed some small clots at 4.5 weeks (I should be 6+4 today). I got there with a full bladder having been asked to do this for the scan. Then I was asked to do a urine sample to check I’m pregnant.
The urine test came back negative! I’ve had 3 BFPs since the bleeding stopped and each one has been stronger. The last one I did was on Tuesday which was a strong positive. As the test was negative they wouldn’t scan me and I wasn’t offered a blood test (which I’m annoyed about as surely this would confirm my hcg levels at least!)

Is it possible that by drinking lots of water (and I mean 4 glasses which is double what I’d drink in a whole day normally!) it could have given a false negative?

Also, just to add. The urine sample was almost clear so extremely dilute compared to any samples I’ve done in the past

Have you taken another test since you got home?

Shouldn't your hcg levels be high enough though - unless you were literally peeing water. Can you phone a midwife and ask as they might understand, as PP said do another test too. If you go back again then bring a couple of bottles of water with you, get a specimen cup and pee in it then drink water over 20 mins before ultrasound, always worked for me to make sure bladder full but not busting before I arrived xx

I'm really surprised they made you do a test - this has never happened to me when I've been scanned. I agree that you should do another test, but I think you do have to prepared yourself for the possibility of bad news, as I agree that at 6.5 weeks you'd normally expect a positive even with very dilute urine.

Your test should be positive even if very diluted. X

I just did another test and it says positive! So confused now. I’ve got a 2 pack of the clearblue digital tests so I’m doing one in the morning to see what it says. The day I found out it said 1-2 weeks, 3 days after the bleeding stopped it says 2-3 weeks. I’ve not taken one of these in over a week so hopefully if all is ok it should say 3+ tomorrow. Here’s hoping anyway!

That's good! Hoping you get a reassuring result from the digital tomorrow.

Unfortunately it said not pregnant. Absolutely gutted! Back to the drawing board! :(
