Okay so I'm at work and everyone's eating some lovely looking Morrison's best chicken and mushroom pies that staff had brought in. I was offered one, I said if it's heated up correctly yes. It was piping hot! I enjoyed it sat down and saw the packaging and it said eat by the 4th of jan.. today is the 5th. Apparently they were baked yesterday but still I'm scared of getting poorly now and reading up on listeriosis! Panicking 😩

I'm 7 weeks 4 days, thought it should add that too x

You will be fine! It's 1 day, and these are over exaggerated guidelines. Honestly, if it looked ok, smelt ok and tasted ok....it was ok :)

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 05/01/2018 13:52

I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. The bigger risk would be caused by them not being stored/heated properly rather being circa 12 hours past a use by date

Thank you ladies! You have made me feel a little bit better now! Worrying myself over feeling sick (even though I feel sick most days) :') x

You'll be fine, they're not like cindarella's pumpkin and go bad at the strike of midnight, there's leeway on the date.

Foggymist · 05/01/2018 16:36

Pugsleypugs basically said what I was going to say, food doesn't go off at the stroke of midnight on it's best before/use by date.

Okay ladies thank you for your responses. I think with having a loss before I'm just a bit over cautious (which I know isn't good too) thank you Smile

Luckily the pie hasn’t turned over the calendar to January yet so it’s still oblivious what day it is. You’ll be grand - sure you’ve eaten worse and not got ill from it.
