Calf cramps, something weird has happened

Hi all,

I've suffered from calf cramps during the night in this pregnancy, however never experienced anything during the day yet.

I was just walking home from the shops (downhill) and I suddenly got the feeling like I was about to get cramp in both my calf muscles. I had to stop and rotate my ankles and raise my toes to stop a full blown cramp. I hobbled home with both calves aching like nobodies business and threw myself into the sofa.

I just went to get up and I can hardly walk! it feels like I've pulled muscles in both legs, like I can only just hobble. Does anyone have any clue what's going on? what do I do!?

btw I'm 39 weeks on Friday.

Drink plenty of water as cramp can be caused by dehydration. But if it persists get checked out for DVT.

I had this between 20-34weeks. Super painful cramps in the night and then lighter ones in the day. I also had irritable legs/feet.
I was anaemic which I’m not sure had anything to do with it. But I found tonic water really helped due to the quinine in it (also made me feel a little bit like I was drinking a g+t if I had it with ice and lemon Grin)

Oh yeah had that a lot too and not When pregnant as well - my legs go solid and the pain is incredible and your hobbling about for hours with the pain.

I normally increase water but add some salt and sugar to it and it helps me - Lucozade sport will help too.

Trick with this cramp is get something cold against your leg asap

Bananas are supposed to be good at stopping cramp

Eat a banana at tea time - goes away!

I had really bad night leg cramps with my first pregnancy. Midwife recommended a glass of tonic water a day and it worked like magic.
