You're not even full term so I'd park thoughts of trying to bring on labour for a few weeks yet or you'll drive yourself nuts. I do think that baby comes when it's ready and nothing really works except proper medical intervention. However my last labour did start a few hours after I'd eaten a chicken Madras that was hotter than the sun. Coincidence? I was 40+4 so probably.

Nothing works. I tried it all, apart from castor oil.

The average actual length of gestation for a first pregnancy is 40+5 days (40+3 days for second and subsequent pregnancies). Basically nothing you can do at home will dislodge a baby who isn't ready to come yet (if you could "induce" at home, hospital inductions wouldn't fail so often). Given that you're only 36 weeks, I'd keep active and prepare yourself for a wait.

You need to be patient and wait a bit before trying to get labour going by whatever means. All mine were two weeks over, so you may have to be fed up for a bit longer.

However, this is how I brought on my 3rd labour. I lay on the bed with the curtains shut and closed my eyes and imagined that a baby was crying. I visualised myself getting up, going to the crib, taking the baby out and settling her to the breast - I imagined myself breast feeding in every tiny detail. I had remembered that feeding brought on contractions - and it did in this case! Within an hour my waters broke and off we went!
