Falling down the stairs

Hi all, I found out I was pregnant a few days ago and am only 4 weeks. Tonight on NYE, I managed to fall down the stairs totally sober of course. I only went down a few stairs but immediately landed hard on my bum/back then bumped down the next few.

This was 6 hours ago now. Thankfully I have had no bleeding or cramping but obviously I'm now worried to death, especially as we've been through so much to get to this point already! My coccyx is in absolute agony even now so I can see this being a slow healer Sad

Please tell me your stories if this has happened to you (esp in early pregnancy) I need some reassurance Sad

This happened to me at about 8 months pregnant. I was carrying washing and fell from top to bottom! All was fine apart from me having a bit of a shock.

Ahh, I did this Also at about 7 months, I was so worried. I slipped on my socks and bounced down a good few steps. No harm done though. The fall won't harm your bang op, they are so well protected in there

Baby sorry, not bang!

Beakyplinders · 01/01/2018 06:18

Your little baby will be so well padded in there that in sure he/she will be fine.

I've fallen down the stairs twice this pregnancy and no harm was done at all. The second time was quite a big fall so u did go to the mau just to be on the safe side.

This early on in your pregnancy, the baby is very well protected though.

Thankyou all for your stories! It has definitely made me feel much calmer! Thankfully so far so good, no bleeding or cramping. Just had a very painful night in bed trying to turn over and walking to the toilet was agony! Any other time, with this pain I think I'd visit a&e but don't see much point if I can't have an X-ray!

Just to add, you can have an X-ray. I've had one while I've been pregnant- they just make you put a lead vest over your bump.

I fell all the way down the stairs on my bum at 20 weeks. I was panicking but when I rang the hospital they were totally unconcerned and said it was only a worry if I started cramping or bleeding.

Yep, I slid on a tile floor at 4 months landing flat on my back. Very winded and very painful but baby was totally fine x

This was me on Boxing Day! Bloody hurts doesn't it! Only slid on my back down 4 stairs but my god the pain! I went to the doctors they said if there was no bleeding, no pain in the tummy then it's just bruised, they signed me off work because I couldn't sit without feeling like someone had stabbed a knife up my spine! Hope your feeling better soon xxx

I came off a motorbike at 4 weeks and knocked myself out as well as injuries to my legs and body. You'd be surprised how protected they are when they're just a tiny dot.
