Just complaining in general about feeling like I'll never give birth

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I honestly feel like I've been pregnant for years. I'm fed up completely. I can't sleep, I feel sick, I have no energy and I feel like I'm never gonna give birth like I'm gonna be pregnant forever. And the thought of going over my due date horrifies me! Everyone says "you should enjoy this time" well I'm not enjoying it, I'm severely impatient and just want to have my baby!

Totally sympathise StopTheRoundabout !

I can't wait to wear normal clothes again, I've lived in leggings, tights and big t shirts/dresses and even the leggings are starting to feel uncomfortable around the bump now. The only thing I feel comfortable in is my big PJ trousers Grin

Lauren83 · 13/01/2018 17:48

Well I finally had him Thursday afternoon after going in to be induced first thing Monday, 2 day induction didn't work, then c section booked for Wednesday got cancelled after waiting until 8pm gowned up for it, finally had section on the Thu and got out of hospital 24 hours later. Hang on in there everyone

Pigletthedog · 13/01/2018 20:13

Congratulations @Lauren83 Grin

Mortigua · 13/01/2018 21:19

My due date is today and I am so down. SPD has meant I've been pretty immobile and its made a big difference ( 3rd baby) . I was induced last time and feel it's inevitable this time but I'm not even sure if that makes sense! Keep symptom watching and getting excited then crashing down again when it comes to nothing.

Mortigua · 13/01/2018 21:22

Lauren83 congratulations! Sounds like you had a hard slog of it . Glad you are home.

owltrousers · 15/01/2018 10:44

I know exactly how you feel @Mortigua I'm obsessively symptom spotting and getting hopeful when I get all these pains and contractions only for them to go away Sad have you had or been offered a sweep yet?

Mortigua · 15/01/2018 11:57

I've been offered a sweep but not till tomorrow when I will be 40+3. Awful isn't it!
Every night I get painful Braxtons hicks and every night I'm hopeful!
How about you have you had a sweep?

thingymaboob · 15/01/2018 12:40

Hi! I'm 40+3 now. Had a sweep 4 days ago. Keep getting pain and pressure feelings but not a lot else. Bloody sick of this now

Mortigua · 15/01/2018 12:46

Oh thingymabob it's so depressing isn't it. Logically I know the baby has to come at some point but I am already feeling it won't happen naturally as it didn't with my last.
I wonder why my midwife this time is so reluctant with the sweep? I am not happy about waiting another week to even be seen if tomorrow's sweep isn't a success

thingymaboob · 15/01/2018 12:53

I'm not going to have another sweep as I have group b strep and I've been do nervous about it since. I know it's not contraindicated if membranes intact but still!
I'm also anxious that my waters have gone and I've not noticed. That's not possible, right?

owltrousers · 15/01/2018 14:57

@thingymaboob I keep worrying about that too! Sometimes my pants have been so wet in the night but I think its from CM and mucus plug rather than waters.

@Mortigua I had a sweep on Friday, so now 40+3. It really felt like it was working Fri/Sat but its all gone quiet now. People say they only really work if you were ready anyway.

katmarie · 15/01/2018 15:03

I have a sweep booked for Wednesday which is my edd. The midwife told me that first sweeps pretty often don't work, and I found some research that suggested that only 1 in 8 works first time. I'm desperately hoping I'll go into labour before then and I've had a few muscle twinges and cramps but nothing really substantial. I'm climbing the walls here waiting for this baby to come!

Mortigua · 15/01/2018 15:12

My experience with my last pregnancy was that neither sweep worked so not feeling that hopeful but even less so with being already 3 days over at the 3rd. My MW seems quite by the book so I wonder if that's why she's so reluctant.
Thinganybob I have had a false alarm with waters and was advised to lie down for at least half an hour and see if any pools after that as I think it's possible to have the baby's head block things up on standing and a slow leak. Was just discharge for me though (lovely).
Owltrousers that's frustrating it didn't work isn't it. I am so fed up it really feels like it won't happen naturally for me again.
Katmarie good luck with yours. Vkimbimh the walls is right - enough now !!

Mortigua · 15/01/2018 16:41

Sorry 3 days over at the 1st (sweep)

katmarie · 17/01/2018 18:01

Well it's my due date, I've had my sweep, and.... nothing. Resigning myself to another week of this at least, given that the midwife didn't look too optimistic after the sweep. Any tips for not going completely insane?

owltrousers · 17/01/2018 18:08

@katmarie Keep busy, make plans! Try not to symptom spot or think about how overdue you are. Make to-do lists and tick stuff off! Distract yourself basically :)

Mortigua · 17/01/2018 18:27

Agree keep busy though I've got to a point now that I can't face any more lunches out or friends visiting !
I'm so fed up. Just waiting for Saturday now so I can have another sweep and book the induction as at least then I will have an end date. Dh has no idea what to say to me!

Mortigua · 17/01/2018 18:29

Owltrousers sorry not sure if ive asked you on a different thread but did you have lots of blood and gunk after the sweep ? I did last night and pain and felt optimistic for a short while Sad

owltrousers · 18/01/2018 10:43

@Mortigua Yes, exactly that, lots of mucus-ey blood and really quite painful cramps mixed with contractions. I was hopeful too! Unfortunately it stopped when I went to bed.

I have a second sweep booked for tomorrow at my 41 week appointment. My fingers are very tightly crossed!

Mortigua · 18/01/2018 11:46

Yes same here hopefully Saturday! Pains today again but so mild and not building or anything remotely hopeful.
Midwife said hopefully the mucus etc is due to dilation and will make the next sweep more likely to work but trying to just not stress over it ( impossible!)

owltrousers · 18/01/2018 13:42

Exactly what I'm hoping! All the aches and pains must mean my cervix is ripening and will hopefully be more receptive to this next sweep.

Just out of interest did your midwife write some little 'score' type numbers in your maternity book after your sweep? I have some, it basically says -

Position of cervix: anterior (2 out of 2 points)
Length: - 3cm (0 our of 3 points)
Dilation: - 1-2cm (1 out of 3 points)
Station: -2 (1 out of 3 points)

So all together 5 points. I looked this up and its apparently based on something called the bishops index. 5 is a low score and means the sweep is unlikely to work.

Mortigua · 18/01/2018 17:12

I just looked at my notes. I think what it says is c x posterior then something that looks like multips -05 then 2cms long.
Any ideas?

Mortigua · 18/01/2018 17:20

It's the multips bit I'm not sure on and the 05 as the bit that looks like a minus could just be a dash and it's kind of scrawled. I know I was 1.5-2cms dilated and that the head is 1/5 palpable ( but has been since 34 weeks..)

owltrousers · 18/01/2018 17:50

From google it looks like multips can mean 2nd pregnancy - is it?

So your cervix is still posterior, that means it has some movement still to do before its ripe.

Mortigua · 18/01/2018 19:15

Ah ok thanks it's my third. Ok yes that makes sense. Also found anterior for baby's position and 1/5
Palpable. So I think my score would be 5 as well as the length is 2cm. Not entirely sure though!
