Measuring 6 weeks ahead at 28 weeks

Hi just a query as can't find anything to recent about this.

Quick background my DD was born 7lbs11ozs (4 days over) measured pretty much bang on all the time.

I went to my 28 week apt with midwife and I am measuring currently 6 weeks ahead!! At 34 weeks that seems crazy!? My husband has given it a few days and re measured me today (made sure I didn't need a wee etc) and again came out at 34 weeks. I have been referred for a growth scan on Tuesday morning but she only really mentioned could be lots of water or sign of gestational diabetes (although I have had no symptoms and my urine is clear) it a giant baby. I am just a little spooked as I had no issues or extra scans last time, although she was breech the whole time and was undiagnosed which meant having and EMCS but I did still measure fine.

Does anyone have any experience of this or what could be the issues?
Thanks in advance!

How are they measuring you? Are they just measuring your bump? Or actual ultrasounds?

mummyG2C · 30/12/2017 20:48

That was just fundal measuring of the bump which I have always been fairly sceptical off to be fair! Having a scan Tuesday morning to measure and look at fluid etc I assume!?

My bump was never measured in my first pregnancy and I was high risk. I wouldn't trust it tbh go with ultrasound measurements

I measured 6 weeks ahead with DC2 near the end, referred for a scan & water levels were near the top end of normal.

He did weigh 9lb 12 when he arrived though!

When I said water I meant fluid

Thank you nice to hear I am not the only one though really hoping it's not enormous!! I have never put much into this external measuring to be honest I was just shocked that had grown so much so quickly, especially as my husband measured me at 24 weeks out of interest (he is a doctor not just a bit odd haha) and I was bang on 24cms just seems a massive amount to grow 10cms in a month! But I am hoping for just a big growth spurt and will even out with maybe a little extra water and not anything to worry about!

All the way through I measured big - mw, sonographer and dr all diagnosed polyhydramnios (lots of water) but actually my baby was just rather large - not picked up by anyone Hmm
