tight belts when being monitored with ctg

went yesterday to hopspital for ctg monitoring and they really put the belts rather tight around my bump

in fact so much so i slightly loosened one when they left me on my own in cubicle

midwife said it had to be tight as was "small"!

surely you would have thought the belt would need to be tight around your waist if you were big as it would be harder then to pick up the FHR?? not when one is small in size..

oh well am probably being paranoid but was wondering if anyone else has had CTG monitoring and how tight were the uterine and fetal heart belts starpped around them?

i def felt some pains and discomfort in my belly after in the car when the monitoring was done and the imprint of the belts stayed on my skin for ages! so slightly concerned..

sometimes you think you are in hands of experts and don't dare question...

argh!!!

i guess am wondering if tight belts could have done harm to my bump over a 20-30 min period?

argh!

Hi Bumbly
I'm pretty sure it'll be fine. Gived your MW a call and ask her- it will make you feel better. Remember these places do this all the time.
Try not to worry

Hi
I had those damn things on practically every other day for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy and they do sometimes put them on tight.
If you have to have another one, I'd just smile and ask the midwife if she could loosen it a bit. I think sometimes if the baby is in a difficult position they have to put them on fairly tight to get a good trace but I'm certain the m/w wouldn't mind a bit making you more comfortable.
I'm sure bump and baby are fine - my ds was and he was poked and prodded and felt about by umpteen people in those last few weeks!

i too would kick vigourously if i was being poked and prodded all the time!!
