Hi I craved Charcoal as I was pregnant over the summer and everyone was having BBQ's and all I wanted was what they were cooking the food on! Also I loved having long baths with candles but got put off them as I started wanting to eat the candles!!

becklespeckle · 26/04/2007 16:54

I couldn't walk past the bathroom without brushing my teeth when I was having DS2, especially around the very back teeth! A friend at work had the same thing too!

julia5 · 26/04/2007 17:21

With DS1 I craved orange lollies in early pregnancy, I moved on to Strawberry jam at about 6 months, snaffling it in the wee small hours straight from the fridge without a spoon . When I was preg with DS2I loved the smell of petrol, filling up at Tesco was a joy

familygirl · 26/04/2007 18:14

Sand. The mere thought of it makes my mouth water and it's unbearable going near sandpits or the beach. The smell is so tempting!

tigerbalm · 26/04/2007 19:15

Tinned pineapple, buttered crumpets and sparkling mineral water are about all I can eat at the moment (8 weeks pg).

Last time it was Sherbert Lemons - this time I tasted one and wanted to puke

ForcesSweetheart · 26/04/2007 19:26

i craved ice cubes too. USed to go through bags of them, just sitting with a pint glass full and crunching them all night. I then read somewhere that ice cravings are a classic sign of low Iron, craving went away when I started taking an iron supplement.

Hi Forcessweetheart! ((((big waving emoticon))))How goes?

DD - fruit
DS - marmite & banana sandwiches
currently 13wks - fruit (another DD?)

chipo · 26/04/2007 21:03

pickled onions for me. First thing I did when I got home from work was to go and eat some, yum.

nellyraggbagg · 26/04/2007 22:26

With dd2, it was olive oil straight from the bottle - I was completely obsessed. I had it for every meal, and in the afternoons instead of a cuppa. We were stuck in Ikea one lunchtime, and I burst into tears because I hadn't brought a bottle with me (for some reason, neat olive oil isn't on their lunch menu!!)

I craved Orange Sunny Delight - before it was made "healthier" - much to the amusement of friends... I'm a Vegetarian and try hard not to eat unessential additives. I had horrific morning sickness all the way through and SunnyD was the only drink sure to stay down and made me feel less queasy. I was worried that I'd have an orange-skinned baby...!

I also craved the smell of petrol (like julia) and platics, and ate a lot of raw broccoli. Sometimes I would come straight from work, buy broccoli in the Co-op, and eat it at the bus stop, while waiting for the bus home!!

It turned out I was anaemic too, and the raw broccoli craving subsided somewhat after I went on the iron tablets.

fortyplus · 27/04/2007 00:55

Oranges for me.

A friend had a weird one... LOOFAHS.

What's more they had to be old, used ones that had been in soapy bathwater. Bizarre!

tomkat · 27/04/2007 08:49

I craved poppadoms with brinjal (?sp) pickle when I was pregnant with my ds. It's the aubergine one, and it's really hot & sour.

naturelover · 27/04/2007 10:45

I craved soy sauce, teriyaki, tofu, seaweed and rice for about two weeks. No cravings since. I'm eating my normal diet but in larger quantities!

pamplemousse · 27/04/2007 20:24

I craved fruit, chocolate milkshake and raw steak (in a dream I kept having it was weird!!) and I'm a vege... and yep, I was anaemic as well

lucymc · 29/04/2007 10:54

I added HP sauce to everything I ate (classy), and a friend of mine wanted to suck stones Mmmm.

Homebird8 · 30/04/2007 11:46

Thought I was the only one wanting petrol - but now I see I'm not alone. I loved the smell, it reminded me of almonds and I wanted to drink it. I also wanted to eat wet mortar with an old fashioned dessert spoon

Glimmer · 30/04/2007 16:07

early on I very much craved oranges. I got up at 3 and 5 am to have an orange. Just read recently that they are high in folic acid (besided green leafy veg). Thought that was intresting.

colic · 30/04/2007 18:23

I had no cravings the first time but with my second i had to have chunky peanut butter on toast for every meal and i also loved chewing ice i would buy a packet of ice just so i could get some when i needed it and with my third it was anything and everything but i still had to have ice as well

PoliceWife · 01/05/2007 21:28

Rollmops (very sour ones) and Onion Bhajis. Had them every weekend throughout pg with DS.

PoliceWife · 01/05/2007 21:29

Now he's 2 he loves gherkins but hates fish!

FunMumm · 01/05/2007 21:31
