Frightened for my 12 week scan

I'll be 12 weeks 3 days when my appointment is here which is next week.

I'm so scared something will be wrong I'm full of cold at the minute and feel so ill also working which isn't helping. But also my symptoms have literally gone!! I don't and I haven't had any boob tenderness for weeks and I'm really worried.
My nipples don't feel sore either.

I know they say it's normal for tenderness to go away at this stage in the pregnancy. But everywhere else I read women still have big swollen boobs and other symptoms.

I'm praying all will be well

ClareB83 · 28/12/2017 11:50

I didn't have many symptoms from week 11 onwards but it was fine xx

Rebeccaslicker · 28/12/2017 11:57

I had no symptoms at all with either of my pregnancies. Honestly, symptoms are no prediction whatsoever of how it will turn out!

It IS nerve racking, and some people do get tragic news, but statistically you are far far more likely to see a happy little bean than anything else. Fingers crossed!!

Sarah1087 · 28/12/2017 11:58

Thank you both.

I really do hope so

Your placenta starts to take over from about week 10 and your symptoms tend to go away as the placenta takes over the hormone production. I had that happen and was absolutely convinced that there will no good news on the 12 week scan. Now 22+3 and I've invented other things to worry about 😁😳 good luck at your scan! x

MammaBear18 · 28/12/2017 12:22

Also, I still have not experienced much boob pain (and they have not grown apart from the areaolas this week), just little bits there and then but not too uncomfortable. Every woman's body is different.

Sarah1087 · 28/12/2017 13:16

Thanks so much for that MammaBear18 that has really made me feel so Much better 💐 I haven't got long to wait so that's what I keep telling myself. I didn't expect to be this worried lol when I first took the time test I was so excited. 2 week later the worrying started haha and I agree i will probably worry about something else once I'm further along.

Congrats on your pregnancy 💙💜 xx

Thank you! And honestly it's normal to worry as that's exactly what your hormones' job is - to make you bond with the baby. These little babies are very clever in having us wrapped around their tiny fingers Smile xx

FartnissEverbeans · 29/12/2017 12:09

You're getting into the second trimester now, which is the really nice bit Smile I found the first trimester really tough but second was a doddle. I even forgot I was pregnant sometimes!

Good luck with your scan!

Isitwinteryet · 30/12/2017 00:30

I was so worried for all of my scans also. If it helps at all, I didn't have any boob pain or tenderness at all for the whole of my pregnancy. :) just morning sickness!
But you're right, I'm a bit of a worrier and worried if she was ok all the time. Especially once she started moving and had quiet days!

KLen1987 · 30/12/2017 16:02

I’ve the exact same anxiety - glad I’m not the only one. I don’t have my 12 week scan until the end of Jan, feels like a lifetime away. I go through everyday analysing how I’m feeling. I had a week or two of constant nausea but that seems to have died down mostly. Although I was feeling rubbish with it, it was so reassuring to know that everything was most probably ok but now that’s it died down, I’m so anxious that it’s a bad omen. Today, I’m feeling less tired than normal too...We had been trying for two years for our little miracle, which is probably why my anxiety levels are so high. Anyone else’s symptoms come and go?

JennyB88 · 30/12/2017 16:11

KLen1987 my symptoms have been dying down a lot the last week or so. I’m 11+4 and don’t have my scan until the 9th of January when I’ll be 13w. I had a scan at 10+1 to date me and all was well then but at the time I had nausea and sickness which has disappeared in the last week. I have some tenderness in my boobs and they’re definitely bigger than before and I’m tired but nothing major. It’s worrying the hell out of me and I just want all to be ok! It’s going to be the longest 10 days until my scan!

cornishmumtobe · 30/12/2017 16:26

I felt EXACTLY the same. I was convinced we were going to see absolutely nothing at all on the screen and I'd be laughed out of there for ever believing I was pregnant to begin with.

Not what happened at all. A very successful scan (apart from the humiliating star jumps I had to keep doing with my belly out to get baby to move position Blush) and now I'm over 34 weeks and baby is nudging my phone off my belly as we speak Grin

Windowgazer123 · 30/12/2017 22:45

I felt nothing until week 6. Then I had slightly sore boobs some days- just a little bit. And then bouts of nausea. It wasn't nice but I felt 'pregnant'. Half way through week 8, all my symptoms disappeared. I heard they get better for the 2nd trimester but it felt too early. Waited 10-12 days and still had zero symptoms. Sat through Christmas not drinking thinking 'I don't even know if I am still really pregnant'. It just felt strange to feel nothing different at all.
So on Boxing Day I made quick decision and paid for private quick test. Jelly on my belly and 2 seconds later could see the baby. Could even see it moving!
There is no 'normal' when it comes to symptom pattern. But hard to not get anxious!

Sarah- your appointment is very soon. Please update us after!

KLen1987 · 30/12/2017 23:05

Windowgazer that’s exactly what I needed to hear! Really reassuring as your symptoms sound the same as mine. Hoping I can hold out for our scan at the end of jan. hope your anxiety is dying down now that you’ve seen your bub.

Sarah1087 · 01/01/2018 10:14

Thanks girls I do feel slightly more confident now I've he your input lol

It's tomorrow at 11am I'm so bloody nervous lol my nipple soreness has totally gone now. I only have horrible headaches.

Hopefully it will be a happy outcome tomorrow xx

I've always found scans stressful and never quite understood the confidence some have going to them so totally empathise.

The worry of "are they ok" starts now and will last about the next 20+ years! Congratulations and best wishes for tomorrow

Jeds55 · 01/01/2018 10:22

I had this - from 10.5 weeks symptoms gradually disappeared, after a previous mmc was so worried but all was fine at 12 week scan. Easier said than done but try not to worry... 27 weeks now and still worrying!

KLen1987 · 02/01/2018 13:54

Sarah hope your scan went well this morning! X

glitterbomb13 · 02/01/2018 14:32

Op let us know how you get on

Sarah1087 · 02/01/2018 15:10

Thank you for girls so much for your kind supporting words.

The scan was perfect 😍 I literally cried, baby was doing sumersaults and sucking it's thumb lol
I said the the midwife I was so worried because of my symptoms going and everywhere I read screams you should be having killer boobs loads of weight gain etc.

She laughed and said its not true at all. And not every woman's boobs grow or hurt but they will once the milk comes in and gave me a smirk lol.

I am due on 11th July so 12 weeks 6 days. I thought I was only about 12 week 1 day tbh so that's a nice surprise.
I feel so much happier being able to get if off my chest at work and tell people we are expecting.

And girls who commented worrying that something will go wrong. Don't I've made myself miserable for the last 2 and half months for it all to be perfect.

You will all be fine xxxx

YAY! I was looking forward to this update! Congratulations.
Hope you have a nice dinner planned with nice juice (ha ha) to celebrate!
I hope you enjoy your second trimester...

Sarah1087 · 02/01/2018 15:45

There's a bottle of cranberry juice with my name written all over it in the fridge @Windowgazer 😝
Thanks again you lot 💜💐 I will definitely be enjoying the 2nd trimester and not being overly dramatic like I have been lol

Happy new year to you all too. Wish you wealth, happiness and lots of love for 2018
