traces of blood in urine test - what can it mean?

I'm 37 weeks pg and last week my antenatal clinic urine sample showed a trace of blood. The sample was sent off and the gp phoned today to say there was no infection but she did ask if the baby was still moving and if i had had any symptoms. I've been fine and baby is moving, so she just said to bring a sample in tomorrow to check again. it's all gone so smoothly with this pg but now I'm really worried! anybody had anything similar? what could it be? what should i do? feeling neurotic ...

Hi Olatt. Have not had any experience here, so can't help you, but chin up. Hopefully someone more experienced comes along. I'm sure that if it was serious they would have admitted you straight away.

thanks Hulan

Hmmm, wonder if it was a bit of your mucus plug.

do you think i should do anything more, other than just go in tomorrow with a sample? the one with the traces in was last tuesday and all has been normal since

What did your MW say?

olatt · 23/04/2007 15:58

it was the GP - she seemed fairly unfussed and just said to come in tomorrow with a sample to test again. my dh got me worried, he feels they are not doing enough to make sure all is ok

I would give your MW a call and tell her.
Personally I think its a bit of your mucus plug which if it is, is perfectly ok.

Also you may find the rest might come away in one big go in the next few days.

just spoke to oncall mw who was v nice and said it might all be clear tomorrow and not to worry. i wasn't in any hurry to have this baby (not at all prepared!) but now I can't wait for him/her to arrive!

I had this too. MW said it wasnt something that they normally checked and that it wasnt anything to worry about, maybe a slight urinary infection. She said to drink lots of water which I did and some cranberry juice. The next time it was checked 3 days later it was fine.

thank you lucia!
