Hi, i just found out I'm pregnant with my first at 37. I've had had little or no symptoms which is freaking me out slightly. I'm around 6 weeks and have recently started to bleed. I'm not in any pain and it started with light brown/reddish spotting but now its a bit heavier not like a full period but close. I'm worried there's something wrong and my first midwives app is not for another 3 weeks so im not sure what to do?? Originally we did 4 tests including the clear blue test and all positive, should i take another one?

It’s horrible when there’s no way to know what’s happening. I wouldn’t take any tests as they won’t tell you anything really to put your mind at rest (hormones will be in your system even if you miscarry). I’d see if you could get an appt with your gp to see if they could do blood tests over a couple of days to see if your hormones are increasing. Check the ectopic pregnancy symptoms and if you develop any of those go to A and E otherwise it’s a bit of wait and see what happens which I know is really difficult. I had a lot of bleeding at 6 weeks and lots of other threads on here will tell of positive outcomes following bleeds. Good luck Flowers

Congratulations and I am sorry you are going through this.

I had this with both my pregnancies. The first resulted in a miscarriage and then seconded resulted in my now toddler.

Bleeding in early pregnancy is common but if you are going to miscarriage their is nothing you or anyone can do about it.

You can try and get a referral to an EPAC where they can scan (a six weeks it would be vaginal) and take bloods 48 hours apart.

Like the previous poster says if you have pain rather than an ache, ;symptoms of an epic pregnancy or soaking through a pad an hour then go to a and e.

A pregnancy test will not tell you anything helpful at this age.

To be honest the whole of pregnancy, especially the first 12 weeks is a worrying time.

LR1980 · 25/12/2017 16:33

Thanks chaosofcalm, im thinking the worst at the moment but theres always a chance it could be fine. Im definitely not in any pain which im taking as a good thing at the moment, im just keeping an eye on it until i can get to a gp

No pain is a good sign but mild period pain in normal in pregnancy so don’t panic if you do get aches and pains.

I am thinking of you and wishing the best for you.

LR1980 · 25/12/2017 16:43

Thank you, i have had some mild aches but nothing ive been worried about.

Thank you for your advice xx

No had bleeding and aches in both my pregnancies so had early scans and everything was fine unfortunately. I didn’t have any other symptoms of pregnancy at all unti later on.
Fingers are crossed it’s all ok for you Flowers

Fortunately that should have said, I think the prosecco I had earlier is stopping me typing properly Smile

You can always go for a private scan to see what's going on . EPU sometimes take ages to book you in for a scan ...

LR1980 · 25/12/2017 17:17

Thanks guys, you have put my mind at ease. The private scan is something i might think about getting
