4 weeks b4 i found out i was expecting i joined slimming world. Took the bull by the horns, admitted i had a weight prob and decided to finally do something about it. I was a lot heavier than even i thought!!! Im now 31 weeks along and have lost an impressive 3st 1lb in total. All healthily and with the support of my MW and consultant. Trust me i still have several st to lose after my DS makes an appearance. Am just annoyed at some dogooders i know constantly having a go and telling me im harming my lo by essentially eating healthily. Have any of u lovely lot also found yourselves losing weight successfully while pregnant?? What were the postives post birth if any???

I didn't gain any weight at all whilst pregnant so technically was losing weight iyswim! I was almost 4stone lighter than I was at my booking apt, a week after I'd given birth. I had annoying comments all throughout my pregnancy about how I wasn't putting on enough weight etc but for me I was eating healthily for my baby! I feel better than I have in years 9 weeks post birth, my BMI has dropped significantly and I just feel good, shopping is a nicer experience and I have so much more energy!

Congratulations on your pregnancy and your weight loss, as long as you're not starving yourself I don't see the issue, good on you! Flowers

If you ignore the label 'slimming world' and just look at what you're eating then surely that IS a healthy diet? Lean meat, fruit and veg. So what do they think is a good, healthy diet then, what do they think, as a pregnant woman, you should be eating instead?

Ignore them.

I really want to start slimming world in January... I'm due end of June. I've put 3kg on already and in both past pregnancies put on 5 stones (lots of hard work got it off both times) I feel it's heading the same way but I don't want that 🙁 do you think a change in diet such a sw in my 2nd trim will be dangerous in anyway to baby? I really admire that you've continued on sw and think the healthy eating is only beneficial.... Xx

Id discuss it with your midwife first if you weren't following slimming world before you got pregnant. They may well say it's ok to do as SW have a slightly different plan specifically for pregnant women but I think that any change to your diet like that should be discussed beforehand.

Hulaballoo i agree with beakyplinders and speak to mw. Although sw is approved by the mw institute u may find it hard as to adjustments to make, i know i did 1st 4weeks. I needed the kick up the arse as between my earlier pregnancies, complacancy and a broken back id put on over 8st and refused to c it :( im literally the smallest and lightest iv been in about 6 yrs and been feeling demoralised that instead of being supported on finally doing the right thing and getting healthier, i was slagged off and accused of harming my baby.
Beakyyplinders id bet they would have lots to say if i was ramming mcD's down my throat all the time (i still do have the odd 1) but im nearing 40 and knew a lifestyle change was needed. Well i got more than i bargained for with baby no 4 16yrs after my last 😂😂😂 thanks guys im feeling much more positive about myself this morning and realise haters always gonna hate. Merry christmas xxx

Oh god yeah, it's laughable.

Well done on your weight loss by the way, you should be proud of yourself!

I didn’t lose weight when pg but just wanted to say well done. It’s bloody fabulous Thanks

thingymaboob · 24/12/2017 08:55

I was bmi of 31 when I got pregnant and doing slimming world. It was my intention to keep doing it. However, I was so sick from hyperemesis that I couldn't eat a thing! I lost 9kg weeks 7-17! All I could eat was crap when I started again. I have been eating what I want when I want it when I have an appetite. I have only put on 3kg in pregnancy and I'm 37 weeks. I have been eating high calorie stuff when I eat as that might be only thing I can eat in a day. I think SW when pregnant is great and wish I'd have been well enough to do it as have had minimal fruit and veg!

BigBaboonBum · 24/12/2017 09:16

When I asked my MW about midwife she suggested slimming world as they’re fabulous for pregnant ladies. Well done! That’s amazing Flowers

Great job!!

I’m by no means overweight but have certainly gained a few kilos (let’s be honest, it’s the best part of a stone) in the last few months. I have every intention of losing that whilst pregnant. I’m still planning on running a marathon in April (IF I feel up to it and there are no complications - I am an endurance athlete so it won’t be a massive shock to my body and i’ll take it easier than I would not pregnant obviously) so I can’t be carrying any extra weight if I can help it!

flowa79 · 24/12/2017 20:15

Omg a marathon!!! The only 1's i take place in involve movies. Im in awe.

Thingymaboob im sorry u suffered with sickness i know a few ladies that, like yourself were very ill :( congratulations on bubs and hope the last few weeks go well. Bet u cant wait to meet lil un xx
