Heartburn

Just entered the third trimester today and having had avoided heartburn so far, I've been uncomfortable with it all night...

What do you ladies recommend for heartburn? Can I just take the normal gaviscon or is there a certain one I need to take when pregnant?

Gaviscon is fine... it's my best friend at the moment, I'm 38 weeks today!

Do go to your doctor. I had it bad in first pregnancy and Gaviscon didn't help one bit. Dr gave me some tablets which were BRILLIANT (sadly can't remember the name)

Gaviscon is fine, I was drinking it straight from the bottle when it really bad. Also a glass of milk and a biscuit before bed really helped. Ooh, and Love Hearts sweets!

If it doesn't get any better then ask your GP for Ranitidine or similar. I still suffered in the day but it was manageable at night once I started taking that before bed.

I preferred the rennie tablets to gaviscon - much easier when on the go than a liquid.

There's a double strength gaviscon that hardly anyone knows about behind the counter. Safe in pregnancy. I was prescribed omeperazole by the gp and it was like a miracle cure. Previously I'd had to sleep sat up and still didn't sleep.

I find Tums work better (and taste better).

Try to avoid paying flat too, whether that's on the sofa or in bed. Don't eat too close to going to bed either.

Milk.

Gaviscon didn't do a thing apart from leave a bad taste in my mouth.
