Wedding at 35 weeks

My sister is getting married in September, and I've been asked to be Maid of Honour...however I'll be 35 weeks pregnant!

I need to find an outfit! There don't seem to be any maternity clothes shops in my Cambridge/Bedford area, let alone ones that sell/hire decent clothes for weddings.

Can anyone recommended any shops/hirers? I'm willing to travel to London if necessary. I want to at least try to be stylish (and of course comfortable) on the day!

There are some really nice dresses in JojoMamanBebe. I noticed them when flicking through their catalogue. You can view on-line. Good luck.

We have one in south hampshire called Maternal Elegance, I know thats a long way but if you google the shop & call them they can probably suggest someone close to you- they are really friendly. She hires wedding, bridesmaid & evening gowns & set up here cause she had to travel miles to find one.

pinkranger · 23/04/2007 12:21

have you had a look at bridesnbumps.com? I'm rubbish at doing those linky things, but they specialise in maternity wedding clothes including bridesmaids dresses.

MrsBadger · 23/04/2007 13:35

or even ebay - noticed this in my regular matwear search.

If you don't need a flouncy number, I'd recommend Isabella Oliver - some lovely maternity dresses for smart occasions (and you could wear it afterwards). I've bought one dress and one top from here so far - and found both really fab - nice cut, decent material.

a friend of mine bought a normal wedding dress which the shop adjusted for her - she looked fab at about 30 weeks. she was in Beds/Bucks at the time but i'm really sorry i don't know where she got it from

I can recommend jojomamanbebe. Got my friend's wedding in 4 weeks (i'll be 33 weeks then). The aqua rose dress arrived today and I love it. Only thing is that the front is still a little long... sounds like an excuse to eat more chocolate methinks! Oh and if you go to the MN discount section you get a code for 10% off.

I found this one by doing a google search for maternity special occasion or something along those lines.

Also, was scannin InStyle yesterday and there were a few maternity web sites I hadn't heard of listed in the classified section at the end.

Good luck!

hi there, hijacking abit but just wondered where abouts you are? i am in st. neots, bang in the middle of cambridge and bedford and also pregnant and due in october! i will see if i can find any help with the dress around here for you.

twocatsonthebed · 24/04/2007 11:21

I got married last year at 24 weeks pregnant - but ended up with a rather unconventional flowery silk dress, which would easily have doubled as a bridesmaid's dress.

That came from La Conception in Battersea who had some lurvely occasion dresses of all kinds (although the posh maternity shop push in islington also has some nice stuff).

But I think your best bet arethis lot who do posh maternity wear to hire.

hope this helps

Wow, I'm impressed with all the advice...thank you. Twocatsonthebed...thank you for suggesting Does My Tum Look Big In This?! I thought there must have been something like that out there...and according to their website...they are opening a new hire shop within my area! So feeling chuffed.

amyjo22...I'm in Great Gransden, near Gamlingay...small world!

Thank again, and for the ebay tips too, I'm watching a few dresses now.

This all seems a bit silly really...I think by Oct, I'll be huge....ho hum. Thanks again.
