Has anyone produced a girl with a large head?

Sounds a bit wierd, I know, but I am expecting a third and the head measurements have been exceptionally large on my scans.
I don't want to find out the sex, but have presumed it's a boy for various reasons including the head size.
I just wondered if anyone knew of any particularly large baby girls especially the head!
Thanks

Sorry can't help, mine were boys with big big heads!!!

Hi - my dd had a big head actually. I cant remember the measurements, but i know hats in her size never fitted and by 6 months she was in a 1-2 years hat, which was far to small by the time she was 1.
She did not look freaky though - not elephant man or anything - although one old woman stopped me and told me she should be checked for brain damage!!!!!!! I was cross!
i couldn't notice it to look at though!

Birth was quick and easy with no drugs (they had run out of gas and air!!!) adn no stitches so dont worry!

yes, dd had a huge head when she was born. I cannot remember the measurements but it was in one of the top percentiles.

big 'ead!

foxinsocks · 23/04/2007 17:39

we all have big heads I'm sure on account of our big brains

krabbiepatty · 23/04/2007 17:44

yes, if your boys have big heads so may your girls. My girl had as large a head as did my boys before her.

beckybrastraps · 23/04/2007 17:45

I had a boy with a small head. Well, it was actually an average size head but the rest of him was huge.

mythumbelinas · 23/04/2007 17:59

dd2 was born with a big head. She still has a really cute big round head and face. Had trouble getting her head through some tops, and she's had to wear bigger hats.

Yep. DD was induced for Growth Retardation but scan showed head normal size (told me to reassure brain was ok, body too small etc etc). I thought I was having ET

She was born at 6lb2oz, but head was 98th Centile!

Both mine have huge heads, but from front to back, so look normal. Could never get anything without envelope neck over their heads. They both had Adult size bike helmets at Primary school.

NB - They are both VERY brainy

Hello, all my babies had big heads! Biggest boys was 39cm....my daughters head was 35cm and that was almost 98th centile according to her red health book...but the books have been changed since then and going by my newest daughters centile graph she would have been 71st centile...how weird! My twin daughters head was 34cm..but twins are generally smaller so can't compare.xx

LittleSarah · 23/04/2007 18:28

Yup! Dd has always had quite a large head... she is only just 3 and got her a bike helmet recently that only fit once you took the padding out, and once I re-knitted a baby hat twice, started at small, then medium, then large! She was about 18 months and the patterns were children's sizes!

Hi - ds, dd1 and dd2 were all within 1 cm of each other at birth - ds 1/2cm bigger than dd2 - ds off the scale since 1yr, dd2 same size as dd1 (2 yrs difference) Basically it makes no odds as far as I can see - not enough to tell the sex anyway, as at 20w scan, dd1 was same circ as ds - I tried to tell too and was v surprised when a girl popped out.

eidsvold · 24/04/2007 06:54

had a large girl with a very large head!! 9lb 7oz - not huge but big enough. Head was large - can't remember just know it was off the charts!!

littlerach · 24/04/2007 07:13

My sd had a very large head, off the scales. She actually had to have scans and check ups for some time due to this.
Se si absolutley fine though, never had a problem.
And she is very bright

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2007 07:56

My girls had big heads, about 36/37cm I think, hoorah for c/sections is what I say.

DD1 is tiny though, just turned 3 and still in 18 - 24months trousers, dd2 is huge, 8 weeks old, outgrowing 0 - 3 months clothes and on the 85th centile for her weight.

They both look quite normal though!
