No pregnancy symtoms - should I worry

Not sure if I am being ridiculous and neurotic but...

I am 8.5 wks pg and don't feel pg. I did until a couple of weeks ago but now I have no sickness, am not particularly tired, boobs are as normal, no more CM than normal - just don't really feel pg.

Last time I was really sick and completely exhausted and an emotional wreck. Dp thinks I am just more stoic and less self-absorbed (!!) this time round but I know I feel completely different. I know all pregnancies are different but surely I should expect some symptoms.

I also had some abdominal pain on saturday which went after about an hour and no bleeding/discharge. Would it be ridiculous to go to the gp? Has anyone else had a symptomless first trimestre? Any reassurance greatfully received.

its prob totally normal but wouldnt hurt to contact your gp anyway. have you booked in for antenatal care yet?

Nbg · 23/04/2007 09:20

Skidaddle, I had nothing when I was pg with my ds.
I was very worried but the fact of it is that some people just dont have any symptoms

skidaddle · 23/04/2007 09:20

I have an appt with the mw on 8th May but it seems such a long time away..

My first preg was completely prob free for the first and second tri. Didn't feel preg for a long time - and had no MS at all!. This time round though, feel sick as a dog, boobs are already huge and sore and I'm only 11 weeks! All pregs are diff so I wouldn't worry. I also had a few cramps / adom pain last time round, I think it was just my body adjusting to being preg so don't worry. But if you are worried I would go to gp - that's what they are there for! Congrats on preg!

lissielou · 23/04/2007 09:23

ring your gp and ask for an appt, cant hurt

auschick · 23/04/2007 09:34

skidaddle - I was (am) the same. I had no early pregnancy symptoms this time around and had a scan at 8 weeks as I was so worried. Everything is fine (am 19 weeks now).
I was sick all day with my last pregnancy....very different to this time.

I didn't really get any significant nausea until week 10 (ish) this time - just when I thought I was safe

My obs said each prgnancy can be remarkably different symptom wise. Try not to worry too much.

pinkranger · 23/04/2007 09:37

congratulations on your PG!!!

i fel nothing with ds, didnt even feel pg until i started showing at around 18 weeks, this pg i have had it all so please try not to worry x

skidaddle · 23/04/2007 09:46

Thanks all - feel a little less panicked already

auschick - how did you get a scan so early? Did you just ask your mw/gp?

The reason I'm worried is that I DID feel pg although no ms, and now I don't - just terrified I could have had a missed miscarriage.

Sorry one more question if anyone is there - if I do another pg test will it be -ve if something is wrong or will pg hormones still be present either way?

Thanks

Doing another pg test won't tell you an awful lot. It may be negative and you are still carrying a viable pregnancy, it may be positive and only because of leftover hormones from a failed pregnancy. Disappearing symptoms are certainly a reason to call your GP but don't necessarily mean anything's wrong. I had nausea, sore boobs until about 6 weeks and then nothing. I had an early scan at 7/8 weeks because of bleeding and everything was fine. Symptoms came back with a vengeance at 10 weeks.

Only a scan or blood tests will give a true picture.

Best of luck to you. I have been there and I know you're worried. Chances are you'll be praying to the porcelain God again in no time.

skidaddle · 23/04/2007 14:51

Thanks showofhands, that really helped

Hi,
I was exactly the same. I had no symptoms at all during my first trimester. As this is my first I was worried sick that there was a problem. In fact, I'd convinced myself that there would be nothing there at the 12 week scan! (there was a baby by the way)

I'm 17 weeks now and appart from a growing bump and a bit of sciatica I still don't 'feel' pregnant!

Just count yourself lucky and enjoy the next few months.

lizziemun · 23/04/2007 23:01

Skidaddle,

With my 1st pregnancy i didn't have any symtoms (i was 10 weeks when i found out last time). I didn't have anything until much later when i was just very tired.

This time i was 8 weeks and didn't have any symtoms until about 10 weeks when my boobs were realy sore and ms kicked in. I have just had my 21 week scan and was still suprised they found a baby. I have to say that once ms kicked in at 10 weeks it's still here in a minor way.

I had what you call abdominal pain was probaly streaching of the womb, my midwife said that you can notice it more 2nd or more pregnancies.

pickledpear · 23/04/2007 23:06

i had no sign other than my monthly stopped until i was 32 weeks then i had high blood pressure with first two (girls) pregnancys. then ds i had touch of morning sickness in the eve and that was it till 40wks then bp went up again dont worry think yourself lucky

feetheart · 23/04/2007 23:12

Skidaddle - if it helps I didn't have any symptoms with either pg, with DD I didn't know until I was 15 weeks and even then Dh had to point it out
With DS I knew A LOT earlier but it was only the lack of a period (and the a BFP) that alerted us!
It can happen but if you are worried contact your GP, it can't hurt and will hopefully put your mind at rest.

MKG · 23/04/2007 23:40

haven't read the whole thread but you are perfectly normal. The only reason I knew I was pregnant this time around was because I was exhausted. I said "I haven't been this tired since I was pregnant with ds" Other than that there was nothing. The fatigue went away by week 8. Everything has been normal and if I wasn't as big as a house I wouldn't really know I was pregnant now.

dundeemarmalade · 24/04/2007 11:17

hi skidaddle - not sure if you'll have read this on due in december thread, but i've had this too - felt awful last week - massive bosom, v. nauseous, woke up on saturday feeling much better and with slightly smaller bosoms (still completely knackered). "wot 2 expect when ur expecting" says get thee to a doctor if your boobs shrink, especially if other symptoms disappear at the same time. so off to gp i trot, and gp has booked me in for an early scan (but this could take a few weeks to come through so prob won't be that early after all) and i'm starting serial bloods tomorrow to check for falling hcg levels.
altho i'm dead scared of the grief and pain of mc, i decided that just sitting at home worrying was only going to make me miserable and wouldn't change the outcome anyway.
that said, am now feeling truly disgusting and sick again. it's all v confusing.
have you been to gp yet?

skidaddle · 24/04/2007 13:56

Thanks everyone - that's so so reassuring to know that lots of people have had no symptoms. I haven't been to the gp and am just going to try not to worry and wait until my 12 week scan.

Dundee - just read your thread in the antenatal club too - great that you're feeling sick again IYKWIM!! Hope all is fine, it definitely sounds like it will be. But you're absolutely right - worrying about it will not change the outcome so let's ry not to, easier said than done, i know
