Have c section in 4 weeks time - when should I start taking arnica and how many tablets every day? I am taking it that arnica is safe to take in late pregnancy !

Thanks

Don't know the answer I'm afraid. I went into health food shop the other day to buy some and they told me to wait a little longer (my c/s is in 5 weeks).
I did buy 4 weeks supply of iron supplements (spatone) while I was in there and if anyone knows when I should start these ie in build up to big day or 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after, I would be very grateful for advice.

Ummm, was really unsure whether to post this or not, but... I took arnica immediately before emergency c-section, sorry, can't remember potency as was 8 years ago and my anaesthesia didn't take very well. It was ok, but I could feel more than I should have done, and my homoeopath said afterwards that she had heard of this happening to other people.

With next (also emergency) c-section I took it immediately afterwards instead, also staphisagria which is apparently good for surgery.

Maybe the anaesthetic not taking was coincidence, but I wonder if it might be good to speak with a homoeopath, to see if they've ever heard of this.

I'm so sorry if this is freaky, as I said I've been debating whether to post at all. And it was all fine in the end, and I healed really, really well and fast afterwards.

Good luck to you!

I took mine day after & it was terrific, I had almost no bruising within about 3/4 days & the midwives kept asking if I knew how to use the morphine drip as I was taking so little. I consider myself a bit of a wimp so something must have helped. Didn't take any beforehand tho, wasn't aware I was supposed to.

i started taking it when I was back in my room after the c-section - for both dd2 and dd3 - worked fine. Do know of others who take it prior to the surgery. Both times healed nicely.

Another hint - tea tree oil - few drops in warm water and use that to bathe your wound - helps wound heal and prevents infection.

Did not take for C section but for normal v delivery - was told to start taking it once contractions started so baby was still attached then. Do not know whether this helps you at all but a few hours before section would probably be ok - also I think the arnica went into the babys body too and had a really calm baby !!

Hello

I live in France where they are in general very receptive to homepathy. I have a c-section scheduled in 10 days and am taking 5 granules of arnice 9ch three times a day. I started 2 weeks ago. I had a c-section 4 years ago and didn't take it then, so I will let you know if it makes a difference.
Good luck with your section and recovery
NicMac

Thanks NicMac - nice to know they are a bit more encouraging in France. Good luck with your section and hope the arnica helps us !
