Anyone else ill and feeling anxious?

I’ve got a really horrible cold and cough. Awful sinus, throat and ear pain that radiates into my teeth and jaw. Coughing up yellow stuff and feeling tired and dizzy.

I know that colds don’t affect the baby but I can’t believe me feeling this awful is doing it
much good! I am eating properly and drinking loads but I still feel anxious that something bad is going to happen. I’ve been feeling quite anxious and detached throughout this pregnancy and this hasn’t helped.

Anyone else feel like this? I’m 16 weeks.

Yep! I'm 37 weeks today and have been feeling horrendous with sore throat and cold etc for the last week. It's vile but the baby is kicking away happily so I assume he isn't bothered.
Disaster that I can't take anything except paracetamol! X

@snackarella I really am fantasising about ibroprofen and decongestants!

It's totally normal. I also feel terrible currently and after a friend getting in touch for the first time in ages to tell me about her stillbirth at 30 weeks (I am 30 weeks) I am a cold, tired, anxious mess.

Give yourself lots of space and do what you can. Just lots of rest and you can take paracetamol. I wound up with an inhaler last cold as it went on my chest which helped.

I’m just at the end of an awful cold. I eventually decided to phone the midwife and she advised me to go to my local chemist and speak to the pharmacist who could advise on what was safe to take. Wish I’d done it sooner! You can take more than you think and there’s no point suffering unnecessarily. I was prescribed a spray for my nose as my cold had really gone to my sinuses. I didn’t listen fully as I didn’t need anything for my chest/cough but think the pharmacist was also pointing out cough mixtures I could have taken. The big no no is obviously ibuprofen/sudafed products.

Thanks both. Sorry about your friend @CL1982 that must have been difficult to hear 😔.

I’m still feeling awful, dr has given me antibiotics for a chest infection. My anxiety is awful though and I was finding it really hard to control yesterday. I felt like I was really losing it and haven’t felt that way for a while, it’s scary and was making my physical symptoms worse. It’s a viscous circle!

Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon and I’ll be back to “normal”.

Try to remember that lots and lots of women get infections in pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies.

There must be hardly anyone who doesn't get something in 40 weeks.

Look after yourself and you'll be ok.

All the worry means you'll probably be a great mum.
