Could this be baby moving? Placenta at the front

Hi ladies I am looking for some experiences from all of you Smile

I am 20 weeks pregnant and since last Friday I have been feeling something weird low in my belly just above my pubic hair. It feels deep inside not close to the front of my belly and somewhere inside my vagina at the top. I have called the midwifery unit and I have been told that as I am not having any pains or losing any water just to monitor it. Sometimes it feels like pressure but mainly is a weird feeling, best way of describing it. IT is not constant and seems to happen at specific moments during the day.

With my DD I could feel her at the front of my belly. It was like a fish swimming inside me. This time round the feeling is weird and can't find the right word to describe it however it doesn't feel the same. It may have to do with having my placenta being at the front but I do not know. Anyway they told me to monitor it and if it got any worse to give them a call which i have not done as it is not getting any worse.

I have my scan on Friday so hopefully everything will be ok. I was just wondering if any of you ladies have felt something similar. I do get worry with any weird feeling as this is my fifth pregnancy and we only have one child. My last pregnancy was an ectopic pregnancy which ended on my tube being removed and very traumatic Sad

I really hope you can help me understand what is happening. Thank you in advance.

Hi! I have my scan Friday too and have similar feelings. I can’t feel anything from the outside and have an anterior placenta so I was unsure, however now I’ve felt it after having anything with caffeine/ spicy food etc I’m certain it’s my baby!

This is the first time I’ve been this far along so don’t know what to expect, it’s exciting but I worry about everything too. I think if it is under belly button lower down it very likely to be your LO wriggling about.

Thank you very much. It is nice to know that it could be baby moving. It is hard to know what is normal after so many disappointments however hopefully this pregnancy will be the one for us.

Good luck with your scan and I hope everything goes well for both of us.

I am 20+5 with anterior placenta, I mainly feel movements as you describe although they are quite strong now they are all low down apart from the odd kick where my bladder sits, the sonographer at 20 week scan said there was a gap at bladder hence why I could feel it.

I also get the pressure thing which feels like my tummy gets really heavy all of a sudden but then it subsides.

This is my second baby but I cannot remember from 1st as it was 10 years ago!

Good luck for your scan tomorrow Smile

Thank you RosaBaby2. This is my second too with a gap of 9 years so very similar situation Grin

Although I have been pregnant before, it was so so long ago that I can't completely remember everything but I know that movements was different to this one so I do get a hit worry sometimes.

Good to know that it is normal however I will mention it tomorrow and see what they said.

Thanks again ladies for putting my mind at peace Smile

Hope everything went well today Smile

Hi IronedPillowcase,

Everything went well although we need to be back in 8 weeks time to check placenta as it is lying low. We were hoping for a water birth as I had an emergency c-section last time but it looks like it won't be happening. I am getting used to the idea and to be honest we don't really care, we just want this little one to come safe and healthy Smile

How did yours go? I hope it went well for you too

Aw great news that your baby is ok though and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the placenta moves for you.

Yeah mine was good thanks, I was so nervous though!

hereagain99 · 23/12/2017 19:58

I was very nervous too. The sonographer even asked me if I was ok Blush

At least is done and we'll get another chance to see the baby in 8 weeks time. Can I ask you when you are due? We must be so close Grin

Haha me too, she said it was good I was nervous because that meant I knew why I was there it wasn’t just a day out! Not sure if I felt better or worse!

That’s great that you see the baby again it’s a bit daunting thinking we’ve got to go 20 weeks without... I’m due 8th May but think I’ll be a bit earlier, what about you?
