Just wondering how people went into labour.? Was it natural? What were the circumstances?

First time waters broke during the night and contractions started 12 hours later. This time I'm never going to go to into labour. I'll be the first woman who is pregnant for decades, maybe eventually popping out a 30 year old. #overdue

BigBaboonBum · 20/12/2017 13:28

I woke up from a lovely sleep (the last decent nights sleep I’ve ever had to date, 11 years later Smile ) two days before my due date, and my waters had started to trickle, wasn’t even sure if it was that or pee as it stopped... but apparently it was (thanks to the dreaded plastic triangle up my hoohah and cough test) and few hours later they gushed like my womb was a Mary Poppins bag filled with water. Second time I had a pessary induction 7 days after due date, gave birth about a day and a half after the pessary

BigBaboonBum · 20/12/2017 13:29

@oysterbabe Grin I felt like this on my due date, every day over I was more and more convinced that I was going to be birthing a college kid

jessicajaine01 · 20/12/2017 13:30

I hadn't felt quite right but i was very ill during pregnancy so assumed it was my condition ( bad case ofcholestasis ) and baby was all well. Had bad lower back pain and started having a few more niggles that passed week. Then i was 29+6 and had more serious lower back pain and was having irregular contractions for about 3 to 4 days, gave birth 31+2! Waters never fully broke but had bleeding and some leakage. Never new i was in established labour until they wanted to send me home, done an examination and seen i was 10cm dialted!!! Sounds a bit dreadful but was surprisingly very calm! Good luck its the most amazing thing being a mum xx

First dd I woke up to contractions, couple of hours later waters broke, 5 hours after that dd was born 7 1/2 hour labour in total with no twinges before hand.

Dd2 has a sweep on the Thursday as was due to be induced the following Tuesday and it can make things more favourable for induction. Lost my mucus plug Friday night, waters went Sunday afternoon but contractions didn’t start so I was induced on the Monday afternoon. Baby out by half 5. Very intense labour went from 2cm to pushing in less than two minutes.

namechangedcantthinkofnewone · 20/12/2017 13:31

Waters went with my first and inductions with 2nd & 3rd.

Lostflipflop · 20/12/2017 13:35

Both times had sex earlier in the evening and woke up early hours to my waters breaking

Lollipop30 · 20/12/2017 13:35

Both times I’ve not known it was real. I’ve had braxton hicks already and labour wasn’t much different.
1st time my mum insisted on driving me in and I went along with it to keep her happy. Wasn’t checked and sent straight home, where I started pushing so we turned round and went back.
2nd time same but my waters went so I knew it was real.
39weeks with no3, had bh since 35wks so just wait and see!

gryffen · 20/12/2017 13:38

I had my third reduced movement on Wednesday 12th Nov 2014 and saw the consultant on Thursday with an induction due the next day.

Went into hospital after 1 on Friday and had first pessary, on monitor for 6hts then had second one around 10pm. Worst bloody backache all night and then check in morning showed dilated 1cm. Moved to delivery suite at 5pm Saturday, had waters broken and delivered at 7.50am Sunday by forceps held by big burly male consultant who had a cracking sense if humour.

Very happy healthy mama and baby.

Sorry ladies... just to confirm I have two girls. 7 & 3. I am just curious about how it happened for others..

With my first At 36 weeks I decided to help my husband move so logs from the Hollie trees we were cutting down... abit mad when I look back but I had a lot of energy in the last few week compared to the first 5 months with hyperemisis Sad
I think I started having contraction (could have been Brixton hicks but they were regular) and they stopped thank goodness a

After that I Tried walking had lots of sex, had curry's raspberry leaf tea.. blah blah and nothing worked..

At 37 weeks I was measuring small which I had throughout so they decided as soon as I had it my 40 weeks they would induce me! Pessary and having to have waters broken I had her 35 hours later weighing 6lb

With my first baby I started having contractions during the evening (whilst out for a curry funnily enough) and they started increasing in the early hours. Went into hospital where things ground to a halt, but my doctor was just about to go on holiday (next day) so they gave me oxytocin to get it going again. Ds born at 11.13am.
Labour with my second baby started in hospital - I’d gone in as I had a bit of bloody discharge which apparently was the very start of my waters breaking, then had to walk round hospital to get things going. Contractions started ramping up early afternoon, and dd was born at 6.43pm 😊

jerryortom · 20/12/2017 13:51

My second i had hyperemisis again throwing up upto 13 times a day. I couldn't move! Had to have meds in the end to stop me! Placenta wasn't working properly. 31 weeks I had to have steroid injections as consultant Sao I could be induced at any time as baby was far to small. Got to 38 week and another induction! Gel, only got to 4cm. Had to have waters broke again and within 30 mins I had her. Far to quick in some respects Smile

I lost my plug on my due date and had a nagging backache which at the time I thought was just down to walking too far. Went up to bed and realised I was having period-like pains which were regular and getting slowly stronger.

mindutopia · 20/12/2017 14:15

With my first, I woke up very suddenly in the middle of the night, about 5 seconds later felt a pop and a gush of my waters going. I actually very loudly said, oh shit! Had bloody show and a clear out about 30 minutes later and mild period cramps started within the hour. 2 hours later I was having contractions about every 5 minutes and my dd was born 11 hours after waters went. Had a planned home birth, so all natural and uneventful. I was 37+5. I'm super paranoid though that I'm going to go really early this time or that my waters are going to break randomly in some public place. It hadn't even occurred to me the first time around and I definitely didn't expect to be in labour at 37 weeks with my first.

jerryortom · 20/12/2017 17:13

I love seeing other people stories and experiences! Thanks all for responding, we are all made of the same stuff but have completely different things to tell about it!

I know if we have anymore (and they wouldn't be planned but a massive surprise!) I would have a pregnancy of throwing up again... plus probably have to be induced as tiddler would be small (well so they say anyway).

It's strange though. It makes me a little sad that I possibly won't experience giving birth again 🙃

I went 12 days over so had to be induced. Had a pessery put in, a few hours later it fell out! So had to go back up to the hospital had another fitted at 10pm woke up at 1am with period like pains and was in labour.

Oysterbabe · 21/12/2017 07:54

I can update!
I had a small amount of pale pink water leaking with some period pains. 2 hours later my waters broke spectacularly and painful contractions started straightaway. He arrived 2.5 hours later.

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 21/12/2017 10:52

Congratulations Oysterbabe! I was pretty sure you would not, in fact, be pregnant forever. Grin

jerryortom · 21/12/2017 15:51
